Megha Sampat is a choreographer and founder of Padanyaas Entertainment.
Megha was born and brought up in Thane. She did her schooling from M.H. High School and graduated from Kelkar College.
Megha was into dancing from her childhood itself and credits her parents for getting hold of this talent of hers. They enrolled Megha into classical dance training when she was just six years old. She learned Bharatanatyam for ten and a half years and Kathak for eight years.
At the age of sixteen, Megha started her own dance classes and used to teach kids in her building in the basement. From there she got to understand the difference between dancing and choreographing.
Megha says that she has worked in the Hindi and Marathi film industry as a choreographer and dance director. She has choreographed film songs, music videos, advertisements, and stage events. Her first Marathi film was ‘Nivdung’, for which she got a nomination in the best choreographer category in state awards.
She was a choreographer of the Filmfare Awards- Marathi ceremony in 2015 and 2016. In 2016, she worked for the Radio Mirchi Music Awards ceremony and has also been part of the Asia Net Television Awards for two consecutive years.
Megha shares that she has done twenty-five music videos and six ad films by now. She has been a part of nine reality shows as a choreographer such as Boogie-Woogie, Just Dance, Chak Dhum Dhum on Colors TV, Airtel Krazzy Kiya Re, and three seasons of the Marathi reality show Eka Peksha Ek.
Megha shares that she joined a dance academy to learn dance and there she met her husband as well. Together, they started a dance academy and ran it for sixteen years.
Megha shares that she has now started organizing events and is also venturing into wedding choreography through her Padanyaas Entertainment. She proudly says that they organized an international dance competition by the name India’s International Group Fest. In 2018, it was held in Dubai and in 2019 they organized it in Thailand. Then, due to COVID, they went online in 2021.
Talking about her role models, Megha says that Madhuri Dixit changed the scenario of dance and brought a revolution in the field and that is why she is a role model for her.
Megha says that her success mantra in life is to give a thousand percent in whatever you do in life and make yourself irreplaceable.
Talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, Megha says that she enjoyed the first lockdown. She took free online workshops on Instagram and Facebook and was joined by students from all around the world. She feels that the online mode gave her a new reach. She also learned cooking and spent time with her family.
Megha advises the aspirants of the dancing field to properly train under a mentor before starting something of their own. She says that we should also learn from our competitors and improve our skills every moment.
