This too shall pass.
Meenal Khamesra is the co-owner of the Bake Affair Cafe at Udaipur. She sells a range of desserts and snacks along with customised cakes at the cafe. She started this business five years back and introduced the customisation of cakes in Udaipur for the very first time. She feels glad for having started this venture and trying to take it to new heights.
Meenal has always been passionate about baking and that is what drove her into baking business and customisation of their savouries. Soon they started to get a good response from people that inspired them to get their cafe into making.
Meenal says that success did not come overnight to them. It took a lot of years’ practise, hardwork and discipline that kept them going. She feels that everybody who wishes to be successful has to go through a lot of hardships in life. She says that there were times when they missed festivals and had not attended events or occasions but reaching where they are today is really a proud moment for them and is worth it.
Meenal’s success-mantra is to be hard working and disciplined to be successful in life. Her role model has been her father since her early childhood as he taught her to work hard. Her sister-in-law is also her role model because six years back when Meenal visited her bakery, she was astonished to see all the goodies made by her. That is what inspired Meenal to start her own bakery.
While starting her business, Meenal made a lot of mistakes but the experience that she got from those mistakes is what made her learn the most. So she suggests making mistakes and learning from them to move ahead in life.
Meenal opines that education is important but it cannot be incorporated practically but the experience is always going to help you get the practical aspect of life. Hence, education is necessary but experience will make you the person you actually are.
In the initial phase of their business, they saw growth happening because of great demand and this is how they came up with the concept of having a combination of bakery and cafe together. Today, social media is playing a big role in promoting this industry as people post their celebration reels, videos and photos on instagram and facebook to create memories and to remember their day for life. This is taking the food industry to another level and she feels that this is how this industry is going to expand. Therefore, the food and bakery industry have a very bright future ahead.
Meenal requests everyone in this industry to do proper rationing of products to prevent it from being wasted. She also believes that ‘vocal for local’ is the best way to give to the community and to save the waste.
Meenal likes to thank Udaipurites for believing in them, accepting their culture of food and giving them the confidence to expand their product range.
Meenal opines that leaders are never born, they are made. She loves to spend her free time with her daughter and family.
