After being a homemaker for a long time, Meena transformed into a distinguished social worker and dedicated herself to helping individuals with multiple sclerosis. According to her, MS sufferers must be handled empathetically, and gaining their confidence is crucial.

Meena Gupta is the Founder of the ‘Multiple Sclerosis Society of India,’ Hyderabad. She has served as the chairperson of the society for the last sixteen years. In 2005, she became a member of the MSSI national body. Her niece's multiple sclerosis diagnosis marked the beginning of it all. Since then, her goal has been to provide some sort of assistance to an increasing number of individuals who are afflicted with this terminal illness. In addition to many other services, her society provides them with hospital stays, physiotherapy, medicine, counselling, and diapers.

She reveals that three of her pals helped her along the way. When she first started seeing neurologists, she only had six MS patients. But with time, and with the support of the physicians and word-of-mouth publicity, that number began to rise. She eventually attracted more members to her support group. In addition to practising acupressure and homoeopathy side by side to serve more people, she enjoys helping and taking care of other people. According to her, MS sufferers must be handled nicely, and gaining their confidence is crucial.

Speaking of Multiple Sclerosis, she describes it as an incurable neurological illness. MS is an extremely unpredictable illness with no consistent pattern. Additionally, there are no warning signs and the symptoms vary from person to person, including numbness, visual loss, bloody vision, trouble in swallowing, etc. Using an example of an electric wire, she illustrates how a short circuit may occur if the plastic covering on wires is destroyed. Similarly, a short circuit can occur in the body when nerve coating is damaged, causing havoc.

Moreover, according to her, it is essentially a brain and spinal cord disorder. An issue affecting the brain likewise affects the upper body, while a problem affecting the spinal cord affects the lower body. The medications used to treat this illness simply manage the condition; it does not heal the patient. Thus, MS patients require a great deal of care and assistance.

Remembering her childhood, Meena says she was raised in many locales around the nation, although her birthplace was Mumbai. Her father worked for the Indian Railways and had a transferable job, thus she lived in Baroda, Lucknow, Secunderabad, and Kolkata. She had a happy upbringing as she was able to live in various cultures and interact with the local kids. Her education was completed at convent schools located in those cities, which helped cultivate a spirit of service within her. She completed her B.Sc. from Delhi University. Shortly afterward, she tied the knot and raised her family in Hyderabad before embarking on her career as a social worker.

She claims that she is inspired by her father's kindness, humility, gentleness, and generosity.

Regarding her challenges, Meena states that she encountered several obstacles concerning her health throughout the early years of her marriage. She reveals that she was psychologically absolutely destroyed as a result of two miscarriages. But she was able to overcome it quickly due to her husband's support and care.

Meena reports that thirty new MS patients were reported at her centre during the Covid epidemic. She identified the main cause of its rise as stress and despair. She claims that these symptoms appeared as a result of the high level of anxiety among the populace brought on by Covid. She also had to deal with the issue of pricey medications that not all patients could afford during that period. She gathered money and provided all these patients with free monthly medicine, MRIs, and physiotherapy sessions.

When asked about her accomplishments, Meena responds that her patients' successful recovery from this illness and happy lives qualify as her successes. One of the MS sufferers in her group accomplished a great deal in life; she became Mrs. India Earth and continues to model regularly now. Her achievements, in her opinion, are her patients' advancements.

Meena's hobbies include cooking, travelling, and playing online games on her iPad. She also enjoys walking, gardening, and spending time with her spouse.

She discloses that the MS patients' association is attempting to get disability certifications for MS patients. The patients have a plethora of unseen symptoms, such as burning, tingling, blurred eyesight, difficulty speaking, etc. She makes a plea to the government, asking them to take into account the patients' unseen symptoms. Although the patients may appear fine from the outside, it's crucial to recognise the interior issues that are hidden.
