Dr. Mayank Patel is the HOD of Computer Science and Engineering at Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies in Udaipur. He has been teaching at the institute since 2009.
Dr. Mayank shares that he was born and brought up in Udaipur. He did his schooling at Central Academy and Kendriya Vidyalaya. Dr. Mayank pursued his engineering studies at the Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies, where he serves as an HOD today. He has a PhD from the College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur.
Recalling his childhood, Dr. Mayank shares that he enjoyed meeting his friends and playing cricket during the summer holidays. He often reminisces about his childhood and misses those days.
Talking about his challenges, Dr. Mayank says that he was more inclined towards sports than studies during his school days, which was a challenge for him. But, in order to achieve something big in life, he later diverted all his focus towards studies. On that note, he suggests everyone to grab the best education around them and not limit it only to the school and college levels.
Sharing his pandemic experience, Dr. Mayank laments the negligent attitude of students towards their studies after COVID.
Speaking of his achievements, Dr. Mayank says that his students have participated in various hackathons organized by the Government of India and won various prizes at the national level. He feels proud to be teaching at the same college where he obtained his education.
If Dr. Mayank could travel back in time through a time machine, he would go back to his school days, focus more on his studies, and achieve the accolades he deserved.
When asked about his role models, Dr. Mayank says he finds inspiration in Swami Vivekananda and abides by his quote, ‘"Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached."
Dr. Mayank advises all students to pursue their education sincerely and remember that only the fittest survive in today’s competitive times. He adds that the years we put into our education today will bear fruit later in life.
For anyone willing to become a part of the teaching fraternity, Dr. Mayank suggests they be humble and treat themselves as students. He goes on to say that a teacher should be able to guide their students well and show them the path to success.
His hobbies include sports, especially those that involve a team. Dr. Mayank says that such activities help him brainstorm, deal with problems, and strategize to win the game.
