Mayank is running his own tours and travels company and believes that to become a master in any field, continuity, focus, and faith are essential.

Mayank Karanpuriya is the  Director at Dhani Tours, Udaipur.

Mayank was born and brought up in Udaipur. He completed his graduation from Udaipur and then moved to Mumbai for post-graduation along with CA. He did an MBA in Core Finance and Entrepreneurship. He also worked for some time in Mumbai. Then he went back to Udaipur in order to set up his own business.

Recalling his childhood memories, Mayank says that he thoroughly enjoyed his childhood, but  didn’t like to go to school. His parents always forced him to study. He has loved cars since his childhood and has also loved to play with them.

Talking about his journey, Mayank says that he did a job in the core finance sector of Risk Management in Mumbai. Afterwards, because of his father, he decided to come back to Udaipur. When he came to Udaipur, he initially joined Aravali Tours as a general manager for two years to start his career in the tourism industry. Then he joined Shri Vilas Orchid as a GM. Afterwards, he decided to start his own business, so he purchased two cars and started giving travel services to the customers.

He used his past experience in order to satisfy the needs of his customers. He pioneered many things in this industry, like the proper briefing of the drivers, thinking about the requirements of the consumers, providing the best facilities, taking the customers to view the sights at the right time, and many more.

When asked about his challenges, Mayank says that the most difficult part of his job was adjusting to the Udaipur way of life and understanding the customer's perspective. He says that he worked in Mumbai for four years and that his  life there was very different since Mumbai is a highly fast-paced city, and he learned to respect time there. He researched the tourist business and saw that it corresponded to his Mumbai lifestyle. He examined the workers' mindsets and formed his own team to launch his travels firm with individuals who were passionate about their profession. He faced the problem of implementing the things, as in Udaipur the first priority of workers is family instead of commitment. So he put in hard efforts to make the drivers understand their professional lives and value their commitment.

Mayank shares that he started a new trend in this industry, which is to place the brand sticker on cars. Brand placement done properly is the biggest reason for the growth of his organization. He adopted the new technology of tracking (GPS) in 2015 to enhance customer satisfaction and establish his brand image. He believes that the safety and security of his clients are essential to the growth of his firm.

Sharing his experiences about COVID, Mayank says that in the year 2019, he expanded his business, and then after five months, the pandemic struck. He faced many difficulties as everything had stopped, and his business was also going down. To overcome this challenge, he made a new strategy to provide the facilities to the consumers who were trying to migrate. He started giving migration as well as food services to the clients and then gradually built his brand name.

Mayank’s role model is his father as he learned to never give up in life and always fight with the difficult situations from him. He also learned that continuity and belief is important in life to grow.

Mayank believes that education is the backbone of every business. He believes that without faith and good ROI, it is impossible to run a business and to gain experience. Education is the first priority as it clarifies the concepts and vision in life. To get experience, a person needs the right direction, and for that, education is essential. He says that skill development is also very important and necessary in every field, and it must be introduced in the education system.

In his spare time, Mayank likes to travel, talk to and meet new people, and learn new things. He also loves to spend time with his friends.

If given a time machine, Mayank would go back to his childhood days and also learn the skill of logistics at that time.

Mayank advises everyone to be focused and have a strong belief system. It is important to pay attention to your topic of interest and devote consistent time to it.
