Marami belongs to Guwahati, Assam. She has been working professionally in this field for 30 years. She started Kathak dancing at the age of 16 years. She mentored many students and knows that many of them have gone on to be successful as choreographers, professional dancers, and film actors. Her students regularly share their feelings with her and take her advice.
Marami explains that she learned various dance forms such as Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Sattriya, and others as a result of her father's transferable job. Initially, she learned Kathak dance from her Guru Charubala and then got training under Guru Surendra Sikhya and Pt. Birju Maharaj.
Talking about her journey, Marami says that it was tough for her to learn Kathak as she belongs to Assam and was able to meet her guru only twice in a year. Her journey into Kathak dance was good as well as challenging for her to practice and learn the dance on her own.
When asked about her achievements, Marami says that she achieved her goal of becoming a Kathak dancer. The biggest achievements for her are her students and her daughter who became professional dancers, as well as the success achieved by them in life.
Her role models were the dance gurus from whom she learned. She always wanted to touch the sky.
She did many Assamese serials and films, and then she worked at a college. She published a book on Katak about theoretical and practical knowledge and is currently writing the second part of the book. She loves to read books and is also fond of writing.
To attain mental peace, she always dances, as it is everything for her. She practices dance, reads dance books, and does creative things to reduce tension.
Her life mantra is to always be optimistic. Positive thinking is helpful in solving problems and handling difficult situations, she believes.
