I get true satisfaction when one of my players reaches the top and achieves what even I couldn’t.

Manoj Choudhary is the head coach at the Wonder Cricket Academy. He has also achieved BCCI Level-1 in coaching. He says cricket coaching is his passion.
Manoj was born and brought up in Debari, Udaipur. He was an avid sportsman since his childhood. He and his friends had formed a club called ‘Young Boys’ and they used to organise cricket tournaments with the regional teams. Many players of the club also got the chance to play at higher levels.
In 1991, Manoj was playing a tournament in the same field where he is coaching right now. There he met Maharaj Kunwar Sb, and later they became good friends and he supported Manoj at every stage in life. Mahendra Sharma, the current Secretary of the Rajasthan Cricket Association also helped Manoj a lot. Vimal Patni of Wonder Cement sponsored his academy and extended all help. Rahul Agrawal of the Pacific Group helped him create a ground at Karanpur. Gold Sports are also helping him with the latest facilities.
Manoj says that when he was younger, there weren’t many facilities in sports and now he strives to give the best possible facilities to his players. He says that he wants to see young players’ dreams come true. And he wants to see more and more faces representing Udaipur at the international level so that others also get inspiration.
Manoj says they were provided the ground by Maharaj Kunwar Sb and slowly but surely, the latest state-of-the-art facilities are also being created in the Academy, including a gym, bowling machines, speed guns, and many more. He believes that these facilities are necessary for producing national level players. Along with this, he says, international players like Ajay Jadeja, Shane Watson, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Cheteshwar Pujara, Munaf Patel and others have visited the Academy, boosting the morale of the players.
Manoj says that things have definitely changed with time. In his time, they used to quietly sneak out of the house to play Cricket and now parents themselves take their children to the ground. However, Manoj thinks that while this is a good thing, we should also take note that we don’t unnecessarily push our children to play just for achievement, rather we should focus on the fun they are having.
Manoj believes that everyone has talent, what matters is who is investing their mental stamina too in the game.
Manoj says that during the COVID period, they kept in touch with their players and conducted online training sessions, to motivate them to keep exercising and remain fit and healthy. He says that the people who exercise regularly are slightly more immune than those who don’t, so everyone should devote some time to exercise too, and this way we’ll be able to defeat COVID.
Manoj’s favorite player is Kapil Dev. Manoj admires his leadership, determination, and never-give-up attitude. He says that Kapil Dev contributed largely to the development of Indian Cricket and this is why he admires him the most.
Manoj says that there are several government schemes for providing jobs to Cricket players in the government sector. If you are a talented player then the government also supports you and many new options arise for you.
Manoj likes to do organic farming and planting trees. He has the vision to plant 5000 trees in an attempt to give back to nature.
If he could go back in time and relive any moments from his life, he would like to revisit his childhood when he used to play and have fun with his friends.
Manoj says that Ashok Menaria, one of his students, becoming the Captain of the Indian team for the Under -19 world cup in 2010 was a proud moment for him. Also when BCCI matches took place on his ground, he felt proud. Manoj considers these two moments to be his biggest achievements.
Manoj also likes to do social work in the field of sports. He provides sports equipment and necessary facilities to the five best performing players for the whole year.
Manoj is thankful to his family as they always supported him and because of that, he was able to give proper time to his game and became a renowned coach.
