Manohar was born at Marwar Junction. His father worked with Indian Railways. He completed his school education in Udaipur. He went to MB Science College to pursue his bachelors, but later dropped out of it as he was good at sports too and wanted to continue it along with studies. Then he joined MB Arts College and completed his BA. He then did his LLB from MLSU before stepping into politics.
Manohar says that when he was in Fateh School, he would play sports and it instilled in him leader like qualities. He would participate in student movements. Later, when he went to college, he became a member of the student council. Realising his leadership potential, he was entrusted with different responsibilities. He became the class representative of his batch. Then he became the college chief of the college. When he went to law college, he fought for the first time for the elections of MP of the student parliament and won it. Later he served in different capacities till he completed his LLB. He participated in the Ram Janmabhoomi Kar Seva movement of 1990. He was even jailed for it. That’s when he caught the attention of many senior politicians who realised his leadership potential.
Manohar was also proposed to be a part of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha - the youth wing of the BJP. Initially, he doubted whether he would be able to fit in politics but he accepted it anyway. He would always admire Gulab Chand Katariya. Dinesh Bhatt, nudged Manohar further into politics. He was entrusted to serve as the president of the Yuva Morcha. In 1994, at the young age of 23 he fought for the elections of Municipal Council of Udaipur as a councillor from Hiran Margi and won it. This marked the beginning of his full-time career in politics. He did a lot of good work during his tenure as a councillor, improving the state of road lights etc. In 1999, he was reelected as a councillor. He continued in politics and established good rapport with the public, his colleagues and senior politicians alike by his work. Currently, he is serving as a Councillor of Municipal Corporation, Udaipur from Ayad.
Manohar always put serving people as his topmost priority. Manohar thinks that there is a difference between politics then and politics now. He says that today people consider politics as their career which in reality is a means to serve people. He advises aspiring politicians to step into politics with an aim to serve society and not for making any personal gains.
During Covid, Manohar worked on the ground for the public. He collaborated with many NGOs to provide food and other necessities to the immigrants and those in need. Despite the pandemic, he worked as usual to redress the grievances of people. He also appreciates that all the political parties irrespective of their political affiliations came forward and contributed equally to combat the virus.
Talking about his childhood, Manohar says that he belonged to a very humble family. His father was the sole breadwinner of his family and his earnings were not that great. He would often live with the lack of or bare minimum resources. But later when his elder brother also started working, things started to improve at his end. His elder brother inspired him.
Growing up, Manohar always dreamt of becoming a policeman. He appeared for an exam to join the Police after his graduation, but his family did not want him to be a policeman. He was good at sports too and thought of continuing it but his family denied again citing some personal concerns for him. Then he did LLB and practised advocacy for ten years.
Manohar laments the fact that he could not be elected as the Mayor of Udaipur in the recent elections which he always dreamt of. He felt disheartened and thought of quitting politics. But his colleagues and people cheered him up saying that whether he serves as a councillor or the Mayor, he will only be serving people.
Manohar advises that we should never stop working in life, however hard the circumstances be. He too faced many ebbs and flows in his career but never gave in. Furthermore, he says that just keep at whatever you’re doing and keep continually putting in effort and you will get the success.
