Manish has established himself in the salon business by his hard work and exceptional skills. He now offers ‘salon at home’ services to many delighted customers.

Manish Kumar Sen is the co-founder of “Salon on Home" in Udaipur, which is a start-up. He is offering all kinds of salon services to the clients at their homes.

Manish hails from a small village near Vijaynagar in Ajmer district. He completed all his school education in his village itself.

Speaking about his journey, Manish says salon services are their family business. His grandfather and father used to have a small barber shop in his village. He also used to assist them since his childhood. His mother used to work at a doctor’s home. He was influenced by the doctor and wanted to pursue his career in the medical field. But he never got proper information on how to become a doctor.

Meanwhile, he passed his twelfth-grade board exams with arts subjects as his majors. The next day, he met with an accident and was hospitalised for a month for treatment. In the hospital, he met a young doctor who encouraged him to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. He then searched the internet and found that he needs to pass the 12th grade board exams in the science stream first. He repeated his twelfth grade and passed it in the science stream.

He went to Kota for medical entrance coaching with 35,000 rupees, which was his father’s six-months salary. But as he came from a modest background, he was unable to bear the expenses of living there. So, he started working part-time with big salons to get extra income. He soon realised that continuing with medical entrance coaching would prove to be very difficult for him and his family. He had come to know about the immense possibilities of this field by working on Big Salons. That's why he thought it's better to take professional training in salon services instead of spending much of his family's money on medical studies.

Manish received his professional salon services training and started working with a famous salon in Siliguri. There he got the opportunity to complete another professional course with "Wella professionals" , a hair and beauty company. This course made him an expert in hair problems and treatments. Then he got an opportunity to work with the two famous salons in Srinagar, J&K. He moved to Srinagar and worked with those saloons along with his wife for a few years.

During the COVID period, Manish had to move back to his village to be with his family. His wife was also pregnant, and there was no work due to the lockdown. After the first lockdown, he started working in Udaipur in a salon, but again the COVID wave hit, and he had to sit idle again. He looked at this as an opportunity and started offering salon services at home. He started getting a huge response from the clients despite their fear of COVID-19.

During these highs and lows of his life, Manish says he lost his baby during an accident that happened at his home. But both his wife and he didn’t give up and continued their journey.

Manish is proud to say that his salon home services now has over 900 satisfied clients. He and his wife are closely associated with their clients, offering them the best services at their homes.
