A mountaineer, Manish faced numerous challenges but didn’t give up on his dream of climbing Mount Everest. He rescued 700 people in the 2013 North India floods and feels proud to guide the Indian team to the top of Everest.

Manish Kashniyal is a mountaineer and a social worker. He is also interested in history.

Recalling his childhood, Manish says he belongs to Pithoragarh, Uttrakhand. In the year 2008, he joined an adventure camp, which was a good experience and one of his best childhood memories.

Sharing about his journey, Manish says he was on a trekking camp in 2013 when a natural disaster hit Uttarakhand. After returning, he and his group went to help people. It was time to put all his adventure-learning into practice. He and his team built a rope bridge over the river in order to distribute supplies to the people. It was a huge challenge for him. However, he returned successfully after ten days of service.

Manish says that at the age of seventeen, he saved more than 700 people from the disaster. It was a turning point for him; he took a basic mountaineering course from the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering, Pahalgam. Later, he also pursued an advanced course at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. He has also learned methods of instruction, search and rescue, and later, on the  suggestion of the founder of Intrinsic Climbers and Explorers, he joined the Indian Mountaineering Foundation to gain more  expertise.

Talking about challenges, Manish says it was very difficult for him to choose his career path. Furthermore, he believes that the field of mountaineering is challenging in itself.

Sharing his achievements, Manish says he climbed Mount Everest on June 1st, 2021. He was a part of the Indian team and also got the opportunity to lead an India team on an Everest expedition.

Manish says climbing Everest was not an easy task as the cyclones in the Indian Ocean were affecting the climate of Everest, leading to an increase in snowfall. He and his team had to face various challenges. There was a time when they were asked to fall back, but he and his team were confident and achieved his dream of climbing Mount Everest.
