Maninderjeet Singh Sindhu works as a product designer with a Bangalore-based startup. He is also a freelance photographer and filmmaker.
Maninderjeet graduated from NIT, Jalandhar with a B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Previously he had worked with Red Bull India as a freelance photographer and was also the head of the photography club at his college.
Maninderjeet shares that it was during his bachelors that he got inclined toward photography. He would capture photographs of his college campus. He would also learn from the social media posts which contain pictures and videos shot by his college seniors. Later, he also bought a camera for himself and started doing candid photography of the cultural and technical fests that would be held at his college campus. It also helped him gain a bit of popularity at his college, he says. He was also a member of the photography club at his college and later also became the head of it.
Maninderjeet remembers that Red Bull, India would sponsor some of the events that would be held at his college. And during one such event, he happened to click photos and shoot videos which Red Bull really liked, and offered him to work as a freelance photographer for them. He says that working with Red Bull gave him exposure well beyond the means of a college student.
Talking about his childhood, Maninderjeet says that his mother was a government teacher and was posted in a village, and owing to that he spent his childhood in a rural setting.
Talking about his role models, Maninderjeet says that his college juniors and seniors motivated him to pursue photography. Besides, in his job also his college seniors helped him by guiding and reviewing his photography work.
Talking about his challenges, Maninderjeet says that he underwent a tough time when his camera got stolen. However, his friends helped him by letting him capture pictures with their cameras. Besides, getting a good job after graduating was also a challenge for him.
Talking about his achievements, Maninderjeet says that he won the state-level photography competition held at IIT-BHU. He also won the street and culture photography competition held at NIT-Silchar. Further, being able to work for Red Bull, India is also an achievement for him.
To the youth, Maninderjeet advises them to keep exploring until they find what they love to do. Besides, he advises them to enjoy life's journey and not stick to what others say.
