Being passionate about doing something big in life led Dr. Mala towards success, despite many stumbling blocks. She inspires everyone to be happy and keep others happy.

Dr. Mala Kapoor is the Director-Principal of Silverline Prestige School, Ghaziabad. She founded the school in 1987.

Dr. Mala was born in Amritsar but was raised in Ghaziabad. She did her schooling from Sushila Inter College High School. She did her B.Ed, M.Ed, PhD and MA in English from Vidyavati Mukand Lal Girls College. She had a zeal to learn something or the other so she learned painting, music and dance. She was always ahead in studies as well as sports and used to participate in all extra curricular activities in her school and college. She even played hockey at the state level. She has always been fond of writing poems as well.

Reminiscing about her childhood, Dr. Mala says that she spent most of her childhood days picnicing on the banks of the Hindon river with her parents. But she regrets that due to industrialisation, the river’s water has now turned polluted and dirty. This thing bothers her a lot and so she is working towards environment protection as well.

Dr. Mala shares that earlier because of Ghaziabad being a small town, people used to send their children to Delhi for better education. Seeing this, she thought of doing something for the city in this direction. Therefore, under the guidance of her mother and her teacher, she started her own school in Ghaziabad. That’s how her professional journey started.

Talking about her struggles, Dr. Mala says that she faced a lot of struggles in her life. Starting a school was a big challenge in itself. Also, due to the ill health of her husband, there always was a shortage of funds. In 1999, she lost her husband due to kidney failure. It was the most devastating phase of her life. But battling everything, she moved ahead in her professional and personal journey, and achieved several milestones in life.

When asked about her role models, Dr. Mala says that she considers her mother and her teachers as her role models for all the teachings they gave her and walked with her at every step of her life. Because of them, she has reached this position today.

Talking about her achievements, Dr. Mala considers going to Antarctica and spending time with nature alone as her achievement. Besides this, she has accomplished  many other achievements in her professional journey. She considers the success of her school alumni as her achievement. On the personal front, she did adventurous sports like paragliding and skydiving at the age of sixty-one, which is no less than an achievement for her.

In her spare time, Dr. Mala likes to think, read, write, drive, sing and travel. Besides, she enjoys cooking, trying new recipes, decorating the house and spending time with her friends.

If anyone wants to make a career in the teaching profession, Dr. Mala tells them that it is a very noble profession and if there is no teacher in this world, there would be nothing. She advises that to be a good teacher, always remain a student and make continuous efforts to improve yourself. Only then will you be able to make someone else’s future.

Dr. Mala gives a piece of advice to everyone to be happy and don’t waste your time in criticism. She says that if you are affected by any social pressure, keep it outside, don’t spoil the atmosphere of your home by bringing that negative vibe inside your home. Also, don’t run after money so much that you die soon.
