Mahip Singh Jhala is a Badminton Coach at Vaikuntha Sports Academy, Udaipur. He trains children in Badminton. In the academy, once a week, other sports activities are also organized to make them grow as a player and improve their stamina.
Mahip was born and brought up in Udaipur. He did his schooling from Central Academy and did his graduation and P.G. from BN College, Udaipur. He did a Diploma course in Hotel Management. He started his journey in the hotel industry in 2008 and worked as a hotelier for eleven years in that field. But in 2019, he started his own business by taking ‘Hotel Udai Valley Resort’ on lease in the heart of the city.
Mahip says that he started playing Badminton from the 8th grade and also played his first National Tournament. Then on a continuous basis he played School Nationals as well as Open Nationals. After college, he stopped playing Badminton professionally but he always continued his passion and stayed connected with it. For the last one-and-a-half years he has started coaching budding players at Vaikuntha Sports Academy.
Talking about his achievements, Mahip says that in his twelve year badminton career, he has been the ‘Rajasthan Badminton Champion’ twice. And, at the team level, his Udaipur team was also a winner many times. In addition, he has also been a winner twice in the University Tournaments from West-Zone.
Mahip advises parents to keep their children ahead not only in studies but also in sports as it helps keep their metabolism good, keeps them physically fit and also makes their mind sharp.
According to Mahip, it is very important to have a balance of Education and Experience in life.
Mahip says that due to Covid-19, his professional life had become very disturbed as he belonged to the hospitality industry and that sector came to a stand still. But he admits that because of it, he was able to spend quality time with his family. Now the hospitality business has again started to rise and he has made a nice comeback again in this field.
If Mahip had a Time Machine, he would go back to his school life and relive it.
Mahip says that he developed his leadership qualities while learning badminton from his seniors.
