Mahima hails from Delhi. She is a renowned artist and leaves no boundaries in expressing her thoughts to the audience through her live art. Mahima has art in every nerve. Expression is her profession.
Mahima says, since childhood, she was curious, adventurous, and interested in doing various performances. Self-expression, people, and the audience were very important to her. So, she learned Kathak.
Talking about what performance means to her, Mahima says expressing herself in front of the audience by using her body and emotions as a medium is a performance. She even links this with painting, a conscious act of expression. In this way, she connects to her audience. When we express ourselves we get healthy communication that leads to healthy growth is what Mahima believes. She says Art is a reflection of society.
Talking about leadership, Mahima says hierarchy, law, and order are necessary for society. According to her, misuse of power politics can be avoided by proper framework, answerability, and accountability. Mahima says one should take the lead according to the time, space and circumstances.
Talking about her role models, Mahima says she considers nature as a source of inspiration. Also, she learns from her youngsters and experienced people that come her way. Life is the biggest teacher, Mahima says.
According to Mahima, it is the responsibility and moral duty of an artist to encourage people to express themselves consciously as it leads to development and growth in a holistic approach.
For today’s parents and teachers, Mahima advises raising the self-esteem of their children and providing a secure environment for them to develop patience which is the need of the hour. Further, she says, sports and other hobbies are important in life because it develops one’s cognitive ability in a healthy way.
In her free time, Mahima plays chess, listens to and explores various types of music, reads shayaris, performs Kathak, and does sketching more and more.
Mahima compares education and experience with money and knowledge as they are equally important in life in her opinion.
