Mahendra Singh Chauhan runs Kalarthi Advertising in Udaipur, a firm started by his father in 1954. He took over his father’s business with new ideas, evolved it with advanced technology, and has now reached a new height of success.
Born and raised in Udaipur, Mahendra is passionate about advertising, a love that he inherited from his father, who used to meticulously paint movie posters for cinema halls by hand. With advanced technology at his disposal, Mahendra has automated much of the work done at Kalarthi Advertising, making it more efficient and effective.
We always try to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger. Mahendra speaks about his struggles as an advertiser, recalling how his father's approach to painting inspired him. Despite his passion for the field, Mahendra faced several challenges in starting out, namely, being a fresher and lacking a strong financial base. He also experienced setbacks when one of his projects collapsed, causing him to suffer a significant financial loss. However, Mahendra says ups and downs are a part of business, and we are never afraid of them or nervous about them. He maintains a positive outlook on the unpredictability of business and strives to learn from his mistakes in order to grow stronger.
Addressing youngsters, he advises them to join his field if they are passionate about art and if they have adequate artistic capabilities. He says it is also important to have a basic knowledge of designing on computers. Mahendra says everyone he has seen in this business has found tremendous growth, and he says this is a field very open to anyone.
About his childhood, Mahendra fondly remembers going to his maternal grandmother’s place and eating food while sitting on a "Neem" tree in the fields. He loved to eat makki ki roti and pyaaz.
If he could travel back in time via a time machine, Mahendra would not want to change his profession, as he is very happy with what he has. Although he would really want to relive his school days at St. Paul's, as it was one of the best times of his life,
In his leisure time, Mahendra spends time with his friends singing songs on karaoke. He loves to sing, as it relieves him of all his stress.
