An experienced high school Hindi teacher, Madhubala Lohar believes in not only teaching the subject lessons to her students but also solving their personal problems.

Madhubala has been teaching Hindi at Shishu Bharti Senior Secondary School, Udaipur for the past twenty years. She teaches students from grades 9 till 12 and she teaches both Hindi Compulsory and Hindi Literature.

Madhubala is a B.Ed. and an MA in Hindi. She joined as a primary teacher at the school and after working for around ten years she was entrusted to teach senior students at the school.

During the Covid pandemic, she had to teach her students online and also had to record the videos of her lessons. She says that not every parent could provide a mobile to their kids and owing to that some students had to compromise on their studies. Moreover, she says that now as schools have opened up, it has become a bit cumbersome for her as she is required to teach the same lessons in-person to the students that she virtually taught earlier. Also, some students are taking time to adapt to the routine and pick up their studies after schools have opened up. However, during the lockdown, on the personal front, she got to spend time with her husband and children and cook and savour new dishes at home.

To aspiring teachers, she advises that you should be punctual and carry yourself nicely as students learn from the way you behave and idolise you. Besides, she says that you ought to deal with your students with love and affection and try to understand their problems.

Madhubala thinks that in teaching, both education and experience are important. She says that with experience you learn to understand the psychology of students and it helps you teach them better.

In her free time, she likes sewing, weaving and reading books.

Madhubala’s leadership style is such that she never orders other teachers at the school to do things, rather she herself works with them and tries to solve their problems and help them in their teaching work.

She considers her mother as her role model who despite being old, still does all her chores herself. She says that her father went against their community to give her the education to make her independent.
