She also started taking her singing classes by then. Then she moved to Mumbai and felt a huge cultural difference. She says that till the completion of her school, she felt a lack of confidence in her. But gradually she built her confidence and learned to prove herself on the basis of her talent.
Maanuni says that she started her singing career with Indian Classical music but later she got associated with Disney music.
Talking about her role models, Maanuni says that she was most influenced by Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus in her musical career. She says that at the age of nine, she stopped taking her formal classes and hopped onto western vocals. Since then, she started considering Demi Lovato as her western vocal coach. She also considers Benny Dayal, Hitesh Modak and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy as her source of inspiration.
When asked about her struggles, Maanuni says that since she is a philosophy graduate, her parents wanted to see her doing something big in that direction and pursue music just as a hobby. But due to her immense inclination towards music, she could not do anything else. So her relationship with her parents got a bit sour initially. She struggled a lot to earn her name in the industry on her own despite lacking avenues that are easily available now.
Regarding her mistakes, Maanuni says that like everyone else, she too made many mistakes in her career. But her biggest mistake was comparing herself with others. And compared to other artists, she used to make excuses about herself. All this stopped her from progressing in life for some time. But soon realizing this, she regained the grip on her work. Her second mistake was doing projects about which she was not completely convinced of. By doing this, she used to get stuck in wrong situations.
Speaking of her achievements, Maanuni says that she has worked with big stalwarts and artists in the music industry and got a lot of appreciation from them. Along with this, she also participated in many shows in India and abroad and on the strength of her talent, she became famous all over the world.
Sharing her COVID experience, Maanuni says that COVID had badly impacted the music industry because all the concerts and performances were canceled. She has also never been a big fan of online platforms. Due to excessive anxiety, she sank into depression but soon she bounced back. She didn’t let these challenges restrict her from exploring her opportunities and soon she became a part of a live discussion show on Instagram. From there she started gaining fame and her fans started growing.
Maanuni believes that over the years, artists have created several new careers for themselves and that’s where individual music got a huge recognition. She says that because of upcoming streaming platforms, individual artists have been able to make their mark in the music industry. Social media also played a big role in this by giving overnight fame to many artists. That’s why she believes that in today’s era, making a career in music is a big opportunity for newcomers.
In her spare time, Maanuni loves watching movies and web series. Apart from this, she also likes watching talent shows and interviews related to music. She also likes talking to friends on the call.
Advising the youth, Maanuni tells them to explore every aspect of their field in order to sustain for a longer time and achieve a good position in life. She says that working only on one aspect would bore you and lead you to downfall.
