Maani Dutt is an Assistant Professor at Manipal University.
Remembering her childhood, Maani says she is from a joint family in Sarsa, Haryana. She did her schooling at St. Xavier’s School, which she considers the best part of her life, as that assisted her in building up a strong knowledge base. She used to be a sincere student and also took part in extracurricular activities.
Maani recalls her journey and says she never had thought of choosing teaching as a career. She wanted to join the corporate world. Maani pursued her education in engineering and then did an MBA from Amity University. She also did a part-time PhD while working. She did a job for a short period at Luxottica.
After some time, she felt that doing a job in the corporate world was not her cup of tea. She realized that the education field can provide her with the freedom to pursue her interests and learn something new. She entered the teaching field in 2014 and is currently working with Manipal University in Jaipur.
Talking about her challenges, Maani says she did not get a placement from her college campus. She used to carry her CV and visited company offices everyday to find a job opportunity. She started her career with a small consulting firm of five people. Coming from a business family, she was unaware of the corporate world or professional life, which also brought challenges to her life.
Maani regrets her mistakes and says she was offered a job in the Marketing Department of Amity University, but she declined the offer. In addition to that, she also considers her outspoken habit a mistake, as she believes one should keep things to oneself in order to have mental peace.
Maani believes her teaching job keeps her vibrant and helps her learn new things every day.
Sharing her accomplishments, Maani says she has become a very patient person now, which is an accomplishment for her. In addition to that, she says the change in her behavior is a huge accomplishment for her.
When asked about her role models, Maani says Dr. Manish of the Marketing faculty at Manipal University is her role model, as he is the teacher every student approaches and trusts. She also considers her father a role model.
In her free time, Maani likes to read religious books and visit temples.
Maani says she likes to listen to religious speakers and pray in order to relieve mental stress.
Maani's life mantra is "Never lose patience."
