Business is for those who are determined.
Business is for those who are determined.
Lucky Shrimali, Branch Manager of Profit Ocean Trading Company and owner of a pharmaceutical business, has come a long way from his roots in a village near Haldighati, Rajasthan. He says his schooling there instilled a sense of independence and resourcefulness in him early on.
Managing his expenses in Udaipur with just 700 rupees which he got from his family while attending B.Com classes at Aishwarya College forced him to find creative solutions, like selling ghee from home to pay his coaching fees.
Starting his career as a Medical Representative (MR) for a pharmaceutical company, Lucky's ambition led him to an MNC with better opportunities and even foreign travel. This experience, combined with his entrepreneurial spirit, led him to co-found ‘Capriana Life Sciences’ with friends. Always eager to learn, Lucky ventured into the world of trading, eventually opening a new branch of Profit Ocean Trading Company in Udaipur.
For Lucky, business is driven by both determination and financial need. He believes those without a strong financial push may struggle to find success. He also emphasizes the importance of being prepared for losses, an inevitable part of any business venture.
The COVID-19 pandemic proved valuable for Lucky in terms of personal finance. Both his pharmaceutical and trading businesses saw a moderate increase in demand, minimizing professional challenges.
While both education and experience are crucial for success, Lucky believes the ideal mix is 70% education and 30% experience.
His role model is Shah Rukh Khan, whose journey from ordinary man to Bollywood superstar inspires him with its self-made success story.
Outside of work, Lucky de-stresses with a daily dose of movies, a habit he makes time for despite his busy schedule.
Given a chance to revisit his past in a time machine, Lucky would go back to his college days. The financial constraints and workload prevented him from fully enjoying college life, including socializing with friends, bike rides, and attending all his lectures.
Lucky advises that when you begin a new project or business, most people, about 95 % of them, may give negative and discouraging comments. However, he suggests focusing on the positive and motivating feedback from the remaining 5%, which often comes from friends and family. It's important to ignore the negativity and embrace the support and encouragement that you receive.
