Investing all she had, she began her new journey and rose in it with time.

Leena Sadana is a baker and chef at Leena’s Khadyam. She has been running her own cooking classes for the past fourteen years, and before that, she worked as a medical representative for eight years.

Talking about her childhood, Leena says that she hails from a middle-class family and was good in her studies. Her parents always taught her to be hardworking. She says that there are some parts of her life that still trouble her, like gender discrimination. She also faced child abuse from her teachers, and she says that the strength that she gets today to talk about this comes from her husband. All these incidents instilled in her the desire to do something in life and make her parents proud.

Sharing about her journey, Leena says that when she decided to leave the medical profession, she invested all her investments in starting her new chocolate-making business. Leena says that she made handmade chocolates for a year, and after that, due to global warming, the temperature started increasing and her chocolates started melting. She says that after not getting much success in the same, she moved towards teaching baking and cooking, and with time, it progressed, and today she has around fifty courses in her classes. She also got a chance to participate in Masterchef, for which she also learned to cook non-vegetarian dishes. However, not being camera-friendly resulted in her not being able to move forward.

Talking about her struggles, Leena says that changing her career at the age of twenty-seven was a big decision for her. She had to face societal pressure as well, but in just five years, her classes rose into the top three of her colony. She has now started taking online classes as well.

When asked about her accomplishments, Leena says that she hails from the small city of Rohtak  and after going through a lot, shifting to Delhi was a tough decision for her. She started her college at Miranda House. Leena says that she could get into the medical field in her first attempt but got the third rank in physiotherapy. Due to weak financial conditions, she dropped the idea and started her Diploma in Pharmacy at Meera Bai Polytechnic.

Adding to that, Leena says when she joined the medical representative field, which was primarily a male-dominated field, she was told that she would not be able to succeed due to her weight and being a woman. However, in just one year, she made great sales and proved everyone wrong. She considers it a big achievement in life. She says that it was a proud day for her when her father called her a 'lioness'. She also feels proud when her students, after learning from her, start their own businesses and get ahead of her.

Leena feels that nowadays teachers fear giving the right knowledge to their students out of fear of them getting ahead. However, she thinks that it should be the other way around, and they should be proud of their students for succeeding.

When asked about her role models, Leena says that her parents are her role models. She feels that they have taught her to never give up in life. Her father, even after having bypass surgery, goes for a morning walk daily, and her mother also lives a lively life even after having many issues in life. Leena also feels that we can get inspiration from everyone around us, no matter what their age.

Sharing about her life mantra, Leena says that we should have a never give up attitude. She feels that the world gives us many things in life, and we should also try to give back to society.
