Laxman Singh F. Chauhan is the owner and founder of the popular food chain ‘Real Paprika’ headquartered in Ahmedabad.
Laxman, who comes from Udaipur, now runs his enterprise from Ahmedabad and has over 50 outlets across India, mostly in four states. He worked for a company for 15 years before launching his own firm in Ahmedabad in 2010. Recently, in 2024, he opened a new store in Udaipur with a new brand name on the occasion of Holi.
Laxman reveals that he set up his first food outlet in December 2010 under the name ‘Real Paprika’, but he had to face a lot of trouble getting his company off the ground. After launching four outlets in 2011, he created a franchising model for his business. He launched a new brand called Ree Story, which runs restaurants and banquet halls. Subsequently, after the Covid pandemic, he established a production unit that sells frozen food to Australia and India. Approximately one container of their stuff leaves for Australia each month.
Soon, he intends to start another new facility from where he will start exporting his material to Dubai, the United States, and Canada.
Speaking about his early years, Laxman shares that he struggled in studies when in school and had to appear in a supplementary exam in ninth grade. After that, he relocated to Ahmedabad and worked as a waiter in a restaurant. He worked at several locations from 1995 to 1996 before joining a corporation in 1997 and spending the next 15 years in that company learning everything there. He quit the company in 2010 and launched his own venture.
When asked about his role models, Laxman says he looks up to his supervisor, a relative, with whom he worked for fifteen years and gained a lot of knowledge from. From him, he learnt how to be on time and do your task before the deadline.
Regarding his achievements, Laxman says he began his business with just one food stall and experienced numerous ups and downs. One of his greatest accomplishments to date is that he now operates over 50 outlets. He is pleased that he is providing employment to so many people and that their food is also being sent abroad. In addition, he has been honoured with several awards and recognitions, including awards from the Gujarat government and one from Gulshan Grover on behalf of My FM. Many of his articles have also appeared in newspapers and magazines.
Laxman tells aspiring newcomers to the business that they may work in the food sector only if they are willing to put in the necessary time and effort. To operate in this sector, one needs to be devoted and driven.
He advises the younger generation that there is a vast and never-ending market for food products. In the past, foreign brands came to India. However, in the present time Indian businesses are doing a lot of business abroad. Young individuals may take this sector to significantly greater heights, if they enter it with innovation and use technology.
In his spare time, he enjoys listening to Rajesh Khanna's songs.
