Lasya aspired to become a journalist but acting suddenly came into her life from nowhere and she ended up becoming an actor. She is a bold being and believes that bold girls create history.

Lasya Nagraj is a Bangalore-based Actor and Bharatanatyam and Kathak Dancer. Her mother is also a Bhartanatyam dancer and together with her, she runs a dance academy called ‘Aradhana Institute of Bharatanatyam’ which was established by her mother in 1985. At present, she is planning to start a branch of this academy in Chennai.

Lasya hails from Bangalore. She did her schooling from Baldwin Girls’ High School and Cluny Convent High School, Bangalore. She did B.A. in Journalism, Psychology, and English from Mount Carmel College. Alongside, she used to perform as a dancer. She says her acting career started through a dance performance where a famous director approached her and asked her to become an actor. Initially, she worked in five TV serials out of which three were dance shows. Then she also did Big Boss, because of which she earned a lot of fame and later she appeared in South Indian movies as well. In no time, she became a superstar in South Indian films and started climbing the stairs of success.

Recalling her childhood,  Lasya says that she had a fun-filled childhood. She enjoyed dancing as her mother herself is a well-known Bharatanatyam dancer and runs a dance academy.

When asked about her role models, Lasya says her mother is her biggest role model for passing on the dancing talent to her and making her reach this point today. Besides, she draws inspiration from Priyanka Chopra, Sudha Murthy, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Michelle Obama.

Describing her struggles, Lasya says that because she had never thought of becoming an actor earlier, she had to face many struggles in her acting career because she had not undergone any formal education or training in acting. But without giving up, she went ahead in this field while learning from different sources and her experiences and achieved success.

Regarding her mistakes, Lasya says that if she would have done any famous serial for more than three years or so, she would have got more fame than what she has got today, which she considers her mistake. Secondly, she feels that in the process of exploring more in this field, good projects slipped from her hands, due to which her growth slowed down a bit and it was a horrible mistake she made in her acting career, she thinks.

Talking about her achievements, Lasya says whatever she has done till now and wherever she has reached in her acting career is incredible for her and she feels proud of where she is today.

Lasya enjoys meditating, spending time with her friends, going on trips with them, exploring wildlife, trekking, horse riding, and being close to nature in her free time. Apart from this, she is also fond of dancing, singing, and listening to music.

Advising all aspiring actors, Lasya says that you should first complete your formal education in acting to know the real art of acting to ultimately stay longer in this field. She adds that instead of running after name, fame, money, and glamor in this field, it is better to hone your acting skills and these things will automatically come to you.
