Lait Sardana is the director of Sardana International School in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. He has been coaching IIT-JEE and medical entrance exam students for the past twenty-six years.
Lalit is a former IITian, and he has done his BTech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Delhi. He had been ranked 243rd in the country.
Lalit started his school a few years ago; it has now become a boarding school. He has students from several northern states of the country.
Recalling his journey, Lalit says that he was brought up in Dewas. He received his education in a Hindi-medium school. He still has great memories of his old small house, where he used to live with his family. He says that his mother herself had to contribute to build this house, so that house is even more special. He had seen hard times very closely.
Because he was a brilliant student, he used to get scholarships from his father's company, which made his education free. His parents always used to encourage him to get a good education so that he could do good in life and raise his standard of living. He came to know about the IIT-JEE exam from his friends, who inspired him to begin studying for it. He worked hard and passed the exam with an all India rank 243. Many people tried to dissuade him and his family by saying that being a Hindi-medium student, studying in an English-medium course at IIT would be difficult for him. But Lalit did not lose his courage and completed the course successfully.
Describing the challenges in his field, Lalit says that when he started his coaching classes, his opponents in this field tried to get him out of it by threatening him many times. He had to face many challenges, both politically and administratively, but he did not give up and was motivated to work hard.
When asked whether he is a born leader or a leader by experience, Lalit says that he does not consider himself a leader. He believes in getting the best results with limited resources.
Sharing his experience during the COVID times, Lalit says that the whole world was facing some kind of loss, and he too had faced a lot of loss financially. His father and he himself also got infected with COVID, but he kept his courage and was able to get himself out of that phase.
If he would get a chance to go back in time through a time machine, Lalit would have liked to go back to the days spent with his childhood friends. If he was given a chance to go back in time and make some changes, he would want to change the time he spent during his ninth grade, when he was a little overconfident and lost his way.
When asked about his role models, Lalit says that he does not consider anyone specifically his role model because he has learned something or the other from everyone. His parents have been his biggest inspiration, who sacrificed for him and did hard work for him and his siblings to offer them the best of life.
Lalit likes to watch cricket in his free time. He considers listening to and reading Kishore Kumar's songs as his hobbies, which he enjoys a lot.
Lalit encourages students to do “heart work” to achieve success in their lives. He further elaborates on “heart's work," saying that whatever goals a person has, he has to put all his heart into them with complete dedication to achieve them.
