Lalit’s NGO works in the fields of women’s upliftment, agriculture, rural development, environment, and other fields. He has been working for the NGO since he was 19 years old. He says they used to go to very deep interior places where even convincing the rural people about the benefits of the projects was a difficult task. He has done many projects given by various ministries and departments of the Government of India over the years. They even worked in villages as far as 400 km from Jaipur in the districts of Jalore, Sirohi, Kota, Bundi, Barmer, and Jaisalmer.
Lalit completed his 12th from the commerce stream, but in college he chose to study sociology and did his Masters in Sociology. He has also taken several computer-related courses, such as web design, etc. He says social work takes time to produce results. You should go on doing your work with patience. He feels there is much increased awareness among people now, and many people are doing social work now.
Lalit says that although they received projects from the government, there were also a lot of challenges. To get their projects approved, they had to make multiple trips to government authorities. However, they were able to grow from their missteps and soon began receiving regular projects.
Lalit says, apart from NGO work, he runs a business as well. Many times, he does social work out of his own resources. His friends, relatives, and other people have always helped him.
Lalit says Corona affected the livelihoods of many people. Through his NGO, he provided rations to several needy people. He even provided financial help to several people.
Lalit thinks there is a difference between leadership and social work. He says that school students develop leadership gradually.
In Lalit’s opinion, both education and experience are equally important.
Lalit divides his time equally among NGO work, his business, family, and friends. His NGO work is well organized now, and most of the work is done by volunteers.
