Lala Ram’s life is a perfect example of a man’s struggles and his quest to take his family out of poverty through sheer grit and his devotion to his mother.

Lala Ram Gurjar is the owner of Mahadev Bhojnalaya & Family Restaurant.

Lala Ram hails from Udaipur. Growing Up, he was the eldest among his six siblings and took the responsibility of his family early on in his life.

Lala Ram began working at a young age as a labourer to help put food on the table. He says that his mother wanted to live in a “pukka makan” for once in her life, which motivated him to change his profession to raise his earnings. He worked in different sectors before entering the transport industry as a bus conductor in 1975. After he got a driving licence in 1981,  he worked as a driver for 22 years and later quit the field to open a restaurant. Eventually, he was able to build a house in the city and also constructed a Mahadev temple near his house on his mother’s wish. He also named the colony “Mahadev Nagar”. After his mother’s demise, he engraved his parents’ name on the temple and also employed a Pandit to manage the temple.

Lala Ram says that his main principle is providing good hospitality to his guests and not just earning money. He says that while working as a driver, he ate at numerous restaurants all around India and decided to start his restaurant and serve people with dignity.

Advising the younger generation, Lala Ram says that you should listen to your parents and be devoted to them.

Advising budding entrepreneurs, Lala Ram says that you should do business with honesty and consult your elders before starting any venture.

Lala Ram advises everyone to work hard and never shy away from struggles but face them with courage like he did.
