Reflecting on his early days, Kuldeep Singh says he hails from the Basti district in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling at Navodaya Vidyalaya and pursued his graduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Lucknow. Singh began his professional journey with Aircel Communications, where he served as an HR officer for three years. He then moved to Vision India in Delhi, working as a National HR Manager for another three years. Subsequently, he spent a decade at Eras Medical College, Lucknow, overseeing end-to-end HR operations for its medical college and group institutions. Currently, Singh serves at Venkateshwara University, continuing his impactful journey in HR Management.
When asked about his inspiration for joining the field of HRM, Singh shares that he always aspired to become an administrator and had been preparing for civil or defense services since his school days. However, despite his best efforts, he couldn’t clear the exams or secure a government job. This led him to explore other avenues, and he realized that pursuing a career in HRM could help him achieve his goals. Looking back, he feels that over the past 16 years, he has successfully fulfilled many of his aspirations.
When asked about his challenges and memorable moments, Singh reflects that difficult times should be cherished as they teach valuable lessons. He recalls the COVID-19 pandemic when he was working at a medical college. The real challenge during that period was allocating duties to staff members, ensuring proper patient care, and maintaining seamless operations. Singh acknowledges that those two years were extremely demanding, but through collective hard work, many patients recovered successfully, which remains a significant achievement for him.
Talking about his role models, Kuldeep Singh says he draws inspiration from his parents who have taught him many valuable things in life. His family has been his biggest support. He also credits his gurus and mentors from school and his professional life. He specifically mentions Vivek Kumar, CEO of a company, from whom he has learned a great deal.
Singh also draws inspiration from the directors of his previous workplace and the current Chairman and Vice-Chancellor of Venkateshwara University. Additionally, he acknowledges that he learns valuable lessons from his employees, which contribute to his personal growth and professional development.
Kuldeep Singh finds inspiration in the quote, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.” He also believes in the fact that there is no shortcut to success, and the only way to achieve success is hard work.
