Kuldeep Singh Rao is the Vice-Captain of the Indian Tennis Ball Cricket Team and a District Election Icon appointed by the Election Commission of India.
Reminiscing about his childhood days, Kuldeep says that he was born and brought up in Udaipur. He did his schooling at St. Gregorios Senior Secondary School. He feels that his childhood was spent under the positive influence of his father, whose struggle, dedication, and zeal to work hard made Kuldeep a hard worker himself. His father worked as a production manager at Amzole India, and the struggles he faced made Kuldeep a responsible person. He feels that his father and his friends from school had a great influence on him and made him realize the fact that if a person works hard, it not only benefits them but also helps future generations.
From being an excellent performer in his school days to being a topper during his coaching days at the Career Point Coaching Institute, Kuldeep made his way into the Government Engineering College, Bikaner, after clearing his RPET examination with an all Rajasthan rank of 1200. He completed his engineering in the Mechanical Stream and then started working at B.S.E.S., Udaipur a private firm dealing in engines. He was in the Deutz Engines division of the firm handling the Rajasthan and Gujarat regions, and was awarded as a ‘Star Engineer’ on the zonal level in both electrical and mechanical fields. He used to visit sites of the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and several other deep mining sites to handle the complaints in engines. Crediting Kedar Singh Rathore, Director of B.S.E.S. for his career progress, Kuldeep says that Rathore’s support made him a better engineer and a better person.
After working in the firm for a few years, Kuldeep decided to search for something new, and with the zeal to diversify his work and also with the intent to pass on his knowledge, he started a coaching institute by the name of Alpha Institute of Mathematics and Science, along with his father, who was an M.Sc. in Mathematics and also had a teaching experience of more than forty years.
Invoking his experience in the coaching field, Kuldeep advises students to focus on self-study, as he feels that what matters is revising what one learns in the classroom. He proudly says that he has been able to make toppers out of underachievers in the academic field through his coaching.
Kuldeep says that his inclination towards sports finds its roots in his schooling days, where he used to be a cricket player.
When asked about his role models, Kuldeep says that Shahzad Khan is the one for him, who is running many sports federations at the moment. He helped Kuldeep in his sports journey, due to which Kuldeep was able to organize many national-level events. Also, this resulted in him becoming the Vice President of Rajasthan Jump Rope Association.
Kuldeep says that whether you are in the sports field or in education, you should never be afraid of anything in life. Talking about sports, he says that in a game, one might lose or win but should never be discouraged by the result. He says that one should never stop practicing, no matter what the result might be.
Going back to his struggle days, Kuldeep says that after working for almost five years in the mechanical engineering field, switching to his own venture and convincing his father for the same was a struggle. However, he feels that the support of his mother and his dedication to breaking new ground and aiming for the difficult helped him reach where he is now.
Talking about his achievements, Kuldeep says that scoring well in his school days, being a topper in his coaching days, and excelling in sports are all his achievements he is proud of. He brought a gold medal as the vice captain of the Indian team in the India-Sri Lanka Championship held in Yala and won another gold at Colombo. He won a silver medal in Singapore. Being selected as an election icon is also something he is proud of.
Putting forward his views for those who want to join the sports field, Kuldeep says that hard work and consistency are the only things that can help one succeed in the field of sports. He emphasizes this point by giving the example of Milkha Singh, who was a dedicated sports person and never missed a day at practice.
Advising the youth, Kuldeep says that the most important thing in life is to be a good human being before being anything else. He feels that one can serve the nation by being in any field of work.
