After working in the advertising industry for ten years, Kuldeep became the secretary of Rupayan Sansthan, which chiefly works on and researches the people, culture, traditions, and heritage of rural Rajasthan.

Kuldeep Kothari was born in Jodhpur. He completed his schooling in Jodhpur itself. He pursued his bachelor’s degree in commerce. After completing his graduation, he did not have any idea what to do next. That’s when he thought of delving into the advertising industry. He went to Mumbai to do a one-year diploma in advertising and public relations. He also got to work at Rajasthan Patrika’s Mumbai office while he was pursuing his diploma.

Later, he came back to Jodhpur and started working with the local advertising industry. Kuldeep was able to gain the trust of his clientele in Jodhpur, and his previous experience working in Mumbai helped too. Kuldeep worked in the advertising field for ten years. Later, he got a better opportunity to work with Rajasthan Patrika’s Patrika TV as a manager. He also got to work in other departments at Rajasthan Patrika. After that, he joined Rupayan Sansthan. Rupayan Sansthan chiefly works and researches on the people, culture, traditions, and heritage of rural Rajasthan to bring about public engagement with the folk culture of Rajasthan.

Kuldeep would travel to different countries in order to promote Rajasthani folk dances and songs. He visited France, Moscow, London, etc. Kuldeep spearheaded the establishment of the museum of Rupayan Sansthan as envisioned by the directors of the sansthan.

Kuldeep says that before starting any work, if we have the roadmap handy, then it’s easy to achieve our targets. Padma Bhushan Komal Kothari and Vijaydant Detha, directors of Rupayan Sansthan, were visionaries who envisioned doing something extraordinary. Komal Kothari Ji traveled to more than thirty thousand villages across Rajasthan to learn about their culture, lifestyle, and language. He recorded various art forms and languages in audiovisual format and then in writing.

Kuldeep says that the COVID pandemic taught us how important it is to preserve our own knowledge. If we have our own knowledge, then we can sustain any situation even if we don't get external help.

Under the aegis of Rupayan Sansthan, Kuldeep has done many innovative things. With the engagement of proper channels and authority, he was able to extend help and bring artists back into their profession.

Kuldeep requests that the youth consider their culture and traditions as good as any other culture and feel proud of them. “To study the relationship between people and their culture is our motto”, shares Kuldeep.
