Kuldeep began working as a tourist guide after graduation, which helped him learn a lot. He is a firm believer in the importance of oral tradition in the transmission of history from generation to generation.

Kuldeep Jatav is a Tourist Guide at Pratap Gaurav Kendra in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Kuldeep was born and brought up in Udaipur, and he also completed his primary education here itself.

Talking about the Kendra, Kuldeep says that Pratap Gaurav Kendra is a massive palace wherein there are numerous temples and multiple tourist attractions, including a robotics show about the history of ‘Mewar’ and about Maharana Pratap. As a guide at this place, he educates the tourists about the history of the Kendra as well as that of Mewar.

According to Kuldeep, a guide should always have knowledge of the local area, or at least the area in which they are doing the job. He also feels that a guide must always try to be polite and interactive with tourists because having command of the language is one thing and delivering it in the correct manner is another. A great guide is one who keeps his audience captivated with the wordplay and organizes interactive tours.

Kuldeep feels that a guide is a person who is the carrier of ancient history, preserving it in the oral tradition and passing it on to others. Looking back to when he started his job, he states that he was a bit nervous in the beginning as being an introvert was obviously not a quality of a guide. But eventually, he transformed his nature and learned how to communicate smoothly with the tourists, gaining confidence and experience with each one of his tours.

Kuldeep says that he acquired leadership skills with his work and experience. Before this job, he had not had any platform to show any of his leadership skills.

Whenever he gets free time from his busy schedule, Kuldeep likes to spend it with his friends and also take a stroll down memory lane in Udaipur. He is also preparing for competitive exams and wants to be in the civil service in the upcoming future.

Kuldeep’s role models are his parents, as they supported him at every point in his life. He is also inspired by Maharana Pratap, especially by his patriotic devotion and sacrifice.
