Kuldeep Mathur, Chairman of the Lal Bahadur Shiksha Samooh based in Kota, established the group on March 22, 1991. Over the last 30 years, the organization has expanded its reach to four states—Bihar, MP, UP, and Rajasthan—operating schools, colleges, and skill training centers in 35 cities. Additionally, the group collaborates with the National Skill Development Mission.
Kuldeep observes that while the youth of India often pursue multiple degrees, they tend to overlook the importance of acquiring technical skills, behavioral values, and personality development. He emphasizes that in today's world, the ability to present yourself well in interviews and skill development is more crucial than merely collecting degrees. Consequently, Kuldeep's initiatives focus on Information Technology and Skill Development for school and college students.
Although his family hails from Jahajpur in Bhilwara, Kuldeep was born and raised in Kota as his father worked at Shriram Rayons there. From a young age, Kuldeep was passionate about education, general awareness, reading newspapers, and helping others. His journey began when he established a small school with just 43 students, most of whom were from underprivileged backgrounds, and he provided them with free education.
In 1991, Kuldeep founded LBS Shiksha Samooh, which evolved from a primary school to a higher secondary institution. By 2001 and 2003, his school had produced merit list rankers, gaining significant recognition. Throughout his journey, Kuldeep has been grateful for the support of his friends and experienced entrepreneurs in Kota.
Kuldeep acknowledges that challenges and problems are inevitable in any endeavor. However, he benefited from a supportive social circle and close friends. When faced with difficulties, he sought advice from experienced individuals in Kota, which helped him overcome obstacles. He is grateful for the support from students and their parents, which has contributed to the growth of his group over the years. Kuldeep has always strived to ensure that no student is deprived of education due to financial constraints, providing assistance in all respects.
Discussing the impact of COVID-19, Kuldeep highlights the challenges faced by the education system, noting that management, teachers, students, and parents were all unprepared for the situation. The transition from classroom to online teaching was challenging, but over time, students and teachers adapted to the online mode, and things are now running smoothly.
Kuldeep observes that teaching methods have significantly evolved over the years, with digital methods rapidly replacing traditional approaches. He cites examples of several teachers who have gained popularity on YouTube and other digital platforms.
Kuldeep proudly shares that he has endeavored to make education accessible to all children by waiving fees and providing free uniforms and books. He is pleased that many of his alumni have become IITians, engineers, and doctors.
Reflecting on his journey, Kuldeep acknowledges that making mistakes is human but emphasizes the importance of not repeating them. He laments that today's youth, especially young entrepreneurs, often lack patience and change their course of work if things don’t work out within a few years. Kuldeep stresses that great achievements require time and persistence. He advises learning from experienced individuals and avoiding the mistakes they made in their careers. He has observed that those who adapted their businesses with technological advancements stayed ahead of the game.
Kuldeep draws inspiration from his father and elder relatives, who have had a positive impact on his life. His father, in particular, has left a lasting impression and kept him motivated at all times.
If given the chance to travel back in time, Kuldeep would like to relive his school days, which he recalls as the most carefree period of his life. He feels that as we age, life becomes more serious.
In his free time, Kuldeep enjoys reading books, listening to motivational videos, and preparing for the changing world. During the COVID lockdowns, he wrote three books that are soon to be published.
In his message to the youth, Kuldeep encourages them to help others and spread knowledge as much as possible. He believes it is crucial for young people to stay updated, continuously upskill, and network consistently for lifelong growth and learning. Kuldeep also advises the youth to avoid spending unnecessarily on expensive gadgets.
