The tattoo business is a combination of artistry and surgery.
Kirandeep was born and brought up in Chandigarh. She comes from an engineering background but has had an interest in the arts from the very beginning. She is currently working as a tattoo artist in Udaipur. Kirandeep specializes in black and gray photo colorism and has been in this profession for over a year.
Recalling her childhood, Kirandeep says she has always been keen on art. However, she never thought of art as a profession.
Before Kirandeep decided to become a tattoo artist, she tried her luck in different fields but could not find the satisfaction she was looking for. Then she came across the tattoo art industry and now owns a studio in Udaipur. Before deciding to enter the field, Kirandeep did extensive research, concluding that she would definitely succeed as a tattoo artist. She found a good artist who could teach her, and she also learned to work with customers, which ultimately brought about a drastic change in her life with her leap from engineering to body art.
Kirandeep says the outbreak of the COVID pandemic has affected many businesses all over the world, but she restarted her business four months after lockdown. Her business flourished after the reduction in lockdown norms. However, it did affect her business adversely.
Kirandeep advises people who wish to pursue their careers as tattoo artists that they should keep an eye out for details, as even a minor detail can lift a tattoo, and the same minor detail can destroy it. You must find criticism in yourself and always aim for the best. If you do not put your heart and soul into the art, it is just a waste of time and resources. You must know human anatomy as well as how to use a particular portion of the body to draw a shape that makes it look charming.
Sharing her opinion on education and experience, Kirandeep says experience matters a lot. You must have a basic education. In this particular business, everyone has different skin, and a tattoo artist must act accordingly to make the most of it. This comes with experience.
Kirandeep is inspired by Ryan Ashley, an L.A.-based tattoo artist. She works with jewelry tattoos that are highly spoken of.
If given a time machine to go back in time, the only thing Kirandeep would like to change would be her career selections, as it would give her enough time to grow and be in a higher position than she is now.
