Dr Khel Shankar Vyas is currently working as the Director of the Faculty of Education at PAHER University, Udaipur. He is entrusted to design the curriculum of the courses and establish good contact between the administration, management and students.
Khel Shankar originally hails from a small village by the name Thana in Sarada Tehsil of Udaipur. He completed his primary school education in his village only. To complete his upper primary schooling, he would walk to a school in a nearby village and studied there till 8th std. Then he completed his remaining school education at a school-based in Dungarpur. He studied Science-Math stream in his high school.
Khel Shankar completed his bachelors in English Literature as he was more interested in Arts than Science. Most of his family members were into teaching jobs so he too wanted to be a teacher and to fulfil his dream, he completed his B.Ed. and MA in English. He was a topper of his B.Ed. batch. When his other batchmates chose to make a career in bureaucracy, he aimed to be a teacher. In 1976, he got his first government posting as a Lecturer of English. He also got the opportunity to teach English to the students in tribal areas of Rajasthan. In 1992, he became the Headmaster of a government school and then the Principal of another government school. He also worked with SIERT and DIET. Today many of his students are serving in big positions and it makes him happy.
In 2008, he was awarded the Governor’s Award for his work in the education sector.
He worked in the government sector for forty years and then retired in 2015 and even after his retirement to continue working, he joined PAHER University, Udaipur. In 2018, he completed his PhD in Education and today many students are doing their PhDs under his able guidance.
He advises his students to be sincere toward their studies and not splurge their parents’ hard-earned money as he believes that if they work hard now they can have a good future. Besides, he says that whatever you do, do it with a positive mindset and complete your task on time.
His life mantra is whatever you do, do it with your heart. He also says that there’s no age to stop working and there’s no age to retire in life.
