Ketaki Badola is the owner of Sinfully Sweet in Bengaluru.
Ketaki belongs to Bhilwara, Rajasthan, and has been working in the field of home baking for the last three years. Before Covid, when she was living in Pune, she started this business there. Initially, a couple of people gave her orders for baking. She experimented with various raw materials to provide eggless cakes, and came up with her best-selling product, which is chocolate chip oat cookies. She was appreciated by the clients and has been receiving repeated orders until now.
Talking about her childhood, Ketaki says that she spent her childhood in Bhilwara. She completed her graduation in commerce. She grew up in a large family with a lot of values. Then, she went to Mumbai to complete her master's in International Business. During her master's, she did her internships in a couple of countries in Europe, namely France and Hungary. Afterwards, she worked in the insurance sector at ICICI Prudential for some time.
Ketaki says that after marriage she shifted to Hong Kong with her husband. Then she moved to Singapore for four years and worked as an international marketer for a company. Then again, she came back to India and started her business in Pune. She got inspiration for baking from her husband, who encouraged her to start a business in this field.
Realising her mistakes, Ketaki says that she regrets not joining a corporate job after coming back to India. Although she feels that giving time to her family is also important.
Ketaki shares that most of her baking is self-taught, and she joined a few workshops to enhance her skills. Initially, she joined a bread-making workshop in Pune but didn’t get good results, so she joined a small workshop at Santosh bakery. She also learned to bake from a baker named Jayedra in Bengaluru.
When asked about her role models, Ketaki says that in terms of her personal life, her parents are her role models, and her husband is her biggest supporter.
Speaking about how she beats stress, Ketaki says she goes for a walk, reads, and spends time with her kids to keep her mind fresh. She also loves to workout in a gym to beat the stress, she says.
Ketaki advises aspiring bakers to learn the craft before entering the baking industry. To gain market share, one must be consistent and hopeful, as well as keep trying new things. She believes that consistency and honesty are important in gaining the trust of customers.
