Kartik Singh is a Film Director. He has been associated with many different films in various capacities like Assistant Director, Writer, and Director. Some of his movies have won reputed awards too.
Kartik was born and raised in Jaunpur, UP. He moved to Delhi while he was young and did most of his schooling from there itself. Then, he pursued his BSc in Filmmaking from the Asian School of Media Studies in line with his childhood passion for filmmaking.
Kartik shares that his interest in filmmaking was generated after watching the Bollywood movie Rang De Basanti. He recalls that he had started writing when he was in the sixth standard, and his writing was quite popular among his fellow students. He was an academically average student throughout his schooling, but he topped his college in his filmmaking course thus solidifying his confidence in himself.
After completing his filmmaking course, Kartik moved to Mumbai to start his career. There, he got the opportunity to work on several projects in various roles, and apply his theoretical knowledge in real life. He also made his own films which are available on OTT.
Kartik’s brilliant filmmaking didn’t go unnoticed as he won numerous awards and critical acclaim for many of his films. He says that two of his biggest achievements were earning the reputed Filmfare and national awards.
Talking about the struggles in the filmmaking industry, Kartik says that the industry is very demanding and requires you to be regular with your work. He further says that convincing producers can be quite challenging at times especially due to the changing trends in the industry.
Answering to what he likes most in filmmaking, Kartik says that it is the writing. He is an avid writer and loves the fact that he can put his imaginative ideas onto paper and make them a reality on the screen.
Kartik’s role model is his father as he learns a lot from his father's experiences. He also takes inspiration from his father’s life experiences and includes them in his writing. He is also grateful for his parents' unconditional support in his journey.
Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Kartik says that both are equally important in life. He says that while experience keeps you calm in adverse situations, education enables you to create things.
If given a chance to time travel through a Time Machine to change something from his past, Kartik says that he would keep everything the same. However, he says that he would like to travel into the future at the time of his retirement to open a restaurant to upkeep his interest in cooking.
Sharing his experience of the COVID pandemic, Kartik says that the one thing he cherished during the pandemic was the clean environment due to reduced traffic and human activity. He also says that everyone learned the value of saving.
