Karima Dawoodani, a Director Managing an Army of Independent Creative Women Crafting Artistic Products in Her Guidance

Karima Dawoodani is an Artist and Creator who feels that a perfect society for women entrepreneurs is still to be envisioned.

Karima Dawoodani is the founder of ‘Soul Works’, a Dreamcatchers and Bohemian Lifestyle Brand.

Karima says that she was always into creating new art and initially took it as a hobby. However, soon she started it as a business in 2012. And, in 2014, she was running a separate workshop, creating exquisite art, and designs by her.

Karima shares that now they are a group of more than 40 women associated with different NGOs and creating Dreamcatchers and other Home Décor and Fashion-related items designed by Karima herself.

Karima says that the Covid pandemic was a blessing in disguise. She says that they got a chance to minimize the infrastructural expenses and maximize resource utilization. Her team started using the latest technology like they had never before and they entered avenues and sections of the business which were untouched and unexplored. Before the pandemic, they were primarily into Wholesale and B2B but after the pandemic, they entered the B2C market and are doing exceptionally well.

Karima says that the biggest struggle for her has been the lookout of people around her towards the work she does. For many, it is still a hobby she is following and not a full-fledged business. She is often asked about her marriage plans and not about her business plans. Karima feels that society still looks at women entrepreneurs as someone just pursuing a hobby for having nothing better to do.

Karima won the Times of India Women Entrepreneur Award in 2020. She says that her achievement has been converting her hobby into a business and doing what she loves.

Karima shares her Success Mantra to be always exploring new things in life and never stopping.

In her free time, Karima likes to learn something innovative. She is currently learning Indian Classical Singing.
