Founder of his own architecture firm in Udaipur, Kapil Jain is working relentlessly to make his firm a globally recognized firm in the field of Architecture.

Kapil Jain Intodia was born in a small village in Udaipur. He studied till 10th std in his village itself. Then he completed the remainder of his school education from Central Academy School in Udaipur. In 2002, he did a B.Arch.(Hons.) from Mumbai University.

Kapil shares that after completing his B.Arch, he worked with many renowned architects based in Mumbai till 2007. Then he came back to Udaipur and started his own Architecture practice there. He started small from a simple office. Initially, he started with designing the plans for small bungalows. Later he also designed the building plans for different hotels and commercial buildings in Udaipur and around.

Talking about his struggles, Kapil says that hailing from a small village, he had to study in the Hindi medium till 10th std and owing to that he had to face some challenges as his English communication skills were not good. Later, when he went to Mumbai for his Bachelors, he had to manage everything all by himself which was also quite challenging for him. He also had to work part-time to support himself. Besides, when he started his own practice in Udaipur, initially he had to face competition from architects in the city and also some of his clients did not pay him on time. Furthermore, complying with government norms to design a building was also a challenge.

Kapil says that despite studying in the Hindi medium, he was able to get an admission to one of the best architecture colleges in Mumbai which is his biggest achievement. Besides, passing his Bachelors with honors is also an achievement for him.

Meticulous Design, Attention to Detail, Punctuality, Honesty, and Transparency are the main ingredients of his Success as an architect, Kapil says.

Kapil considers late architect Charles Correa as his biggest inspiration and role model. Besides, he also considers PM Narendra Modi as his inspiration.

Talking about Covid, Kapil says that the pandemic was a good time for him as during the pandemic he learned about new technologies and innovations in Architecture by attending online workshops and watching videos on the Internet.

Kapil thinks that Experience is more important than Education. He says that in the field of Architecture though education gives one the fundamental knowledge, one learns more with experience.

To aspiring architects, Kapil says that Architecture is a really good field and it has a good scope in future. He advises them to work hard with honesty and always remain punctual in life.

Kapil feels he is not a born leader. He has learned leadership with time and experience.

If he could go back in time in a Time Machine, Kapil would want to relive his hostel life during his Bachelors as he thinks that that was the best period of his life.

In his spare time, Kapil likes to spend time with his family and travel to places. Besides, he also likes to watch inspirational videos on YouTube and also to read books related to Architecture.
