Kapil got an offer to move abroad and work as an artist. However, he chose not to go there as he wanted to promote the local artists in his area. Over the years, he has been able to promote many artists and has helped them take to art as their profession.

Kapil Kanti Das is an artist by profession. He has been doing his artwork and showcasing his art for the past twenty years.

Kapil hails from a city named Kailashahar in Tripura. He has done a bachelors in arts.

Recalling his childhood, Kapil says that his entire childhood was spent in his village in Kailashahar itself. He completed his schooling in his town itself. He remembers scribbling and drawing sketches in his school notebooks for which his teachers would scold him.

Kapil says that he is the president of the Tripura Art Society. Under the purview of the art society, he conducts many art competitions for school kids and teaches them about art.

Regarding his mistakes, Kapil says that making a mistake is an experience in itself. He says he got an offer to move to Canada and work there as an artist, which he turned down as he wanted to stay in his hometown itself to look after his parents and promote the artists there. However, in hindsight, he thinks that not accepting the offer was a mistake. Nonetheless, he is content that the people who he taught art have now become art teachers and are promoting art.

When asked about his role models, Kapil says that his father is his role model. Besides, RK Chhetri, his art teacher is also a role model to him.

To budding artists, Kapil tells them that art is no more limited to the art on canvas. In today’s time, digital art is also gaining ground. He advises them to leverage digitalization and promote their art on the internet.

To parents, Kapil advises them to make their kids learn art as he thinks that irrespective of whatever career they choose it will help them in that and will also make them better human beings.

In his free time, Kapil likes to listen to music. He likes to listen to soft folk music particularly.
