Kanta Sharma is a passionate teacher who is currently serving at Shishu Bharti School in Udaipur. Her dedication to education and her love for teaching have made her a beloved figure at the school, where she teaches History to classes eleven and twelve, and Social Science to other classes.
Kanta's own educational journey began at the same school where she now teaches. She was a student at Shishu Bharti School and fondly remembers her time here. During her school years, she initially pursued the Science stream, but later, when it was time for her to go to college, she decided to switch to the Arts stream. This change marked the beginning of her deep connection with the subjects she would one day teach.
Until 2004, Kanta was a dedicated homemaker, focusing on raising her family and managing her household. Her life took a turn when a friend encouraged her to pursue a Nursery Teacher Training course. Inspired by this suggestion, Kanta decided to give it a try. After completing the course, she landed her first job as a teacher at MDS School in 2006. This experience was a turning point for her, as she realised that teaching was a profession she not only enjoyed but also excelled in.
As Kanta continued her teaching career, she joined another school as an English teacher. Her passion for teaching grew, and she decided to further her qualifications by pursuing a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). This decision was driven by her desire to upgrade her skills and deepen her knowledge in the field of education. Upon completing her B.Ed., she joined Abhinandan School as an English teacher. Her journey eventually led her to Shishu Bharti School, where she has been teaching since 2012.
Reflecting on her childhood, Kanta cherishes the memories of her school days. She recalls the joy and camaraderie she experienced and is grateful to still be in touch with many of her school friends. They often meet and reminisce about their shared experiences, trying to relive the happy moments of their youth.
Kanta has faced her share of challenges in her teaching career. Initially, she encountered difficulties as a fresher in the field. However, one of her co-teachers from her second school provided invaluable support and encouragement, helping her navigate the early obstacles. Kanta is also deeply grateful to her Guruji, who consistently guided, supported, and motivated her, reminding her to never lose hope and to keep moving forward.
Transitioning from teaching English to teaching Social Science at her current school required a significant amount of effort, hard work, and dedication. Kanta had to adapt to a new subject area, but her determination and commitment saw her through. She now effectively uses technology to stay updated and continually learn more about her subjects.
Kanta believes that education is about much more than just theoretical knowledge; it also involves practical experience. She recalls that she was initially a very short-tempered teacher and used to get irritated easily. However, over time, she learned to manage her temper and became more patient, understanding that experience plays a crucial role in personal and professional growth.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented a unique set of challenges for Kanta. The shift to online education was difficult for her, as she was not accustomed to using gadgets and technology for teaching. Nevertheless, she refused to let this hinder her dedication to her students. With the help of her children, she learned to use mobile phones and other technology to deliver online lectures. Her determination ensured that her students did not suffer academically during the pandemic.
Outside of her professional life, Kanta has a passion for cooking. She loves experimenting with new dishes and takes great pleasure in making her family happy with her culinary creations. Her children serve as her honest food critics, providing feedback that helps her improve her cooking skills. Kanta is not one to sit idle; she always finds something productive to do in her free time.
Whenever Kanta feels a wave of laziness coming over her, she thinks of her students, who are the future leaders of the nation. This thought energises her and motivates her to deliver her best in the classroom. She is deeply committed to providing her students with the best education possible, knowing that she plays a significant role in shaping their futures.
Kanta's role model is her father, who faced numerous struggles and difficulties throughout his life but still managed to provide a good education for all four of his children. His resilience and determination inspire Kanta to persevere through challenges and to keep working hard. His life story is a constant reminder for her to never stop striving for success.
The song that inspires Kanta and holds a special place in her heart is "Ruk Jana Nahi." She often sings this song for her students to inspire them to never give up and to keep moving forward in life. This song encapsulates her philosophy and serves as a motivational anthem for both her and her students.
