Kanishk belongs to a well-to-do business family. He always obeyed his elders and worked along with them. Today, he has become a part of his family business and is working diligently in order to take it a long way ahead.

Kanishk Karnawat hails from Rajsamand. His father and grandfather started a marble business in 1982 in Rajsamand, and later they bought a marble factory in Udaipur in 1996. They were the first ones to start the import and export of marble in the entire region.

Kanishk says that their business was started by his father, uncle, and grandfather with a small godown, and today they have three big factories running. Apart from this, they have a mine of green marble in Kesariya Ji, white marble in Umti Umraya, and granite mines in Nathdwara and Deogarh. He says that because of their goodwill, they get big projects for supplying marble for Ambani's house, the Oberoi Group of Hotels, the Taj Group, and others.

Kanishk did his primary schooling in Rajsamand. Then he came to Udaipur and studied here. After that, he was sent to the hostel, where he was a National Gold Medalist in horse riding, jumps, and other Olympic games. He did his graduation in Udaipur and his MBA in London. Eventually, in 2014, he joined his family business.

Kanishk shares that going to the hostel was a major turning point of his life because earlier he was a very introverted and shy kind of person, but after going there, he became an extrovert as there were children from around the world, and staying with them helped him change his personality. Also, he says that living in London gave him wonderful exposure because what he learned over there, he could not learn by staying in India. So it was a life-changing experience for him.

Kanishk says that the COVID times were good as well as bad for him. Bad because all the businesses were stalled other than essentials. And good, because the time that everyone has spent with family probably will never come again in life. He says after things became normal, their factory was restarted and the export orders started pouring in, which they fulfilled timely, and their work started to come on track.

According to Kanishk, studies and real life are poles apart because he believes that studies may be useful for those who are in jobs, but in terms of business, applying these theories becomes a bit difficult. So he thinks that education is absolutely useful in real life, but business needs practical experience.

Kanishk considers his grandfather, father, and uncle as his role models because they each have their own distinct qualities. His grandfather is very particular about time and schedule, and that’s why the payment part of his group is handled by his grandfather only. His father is extremely polite, and he teaches that no matter what happens, you should not talk to anyone angrily. His uncle is an expert in sales, as he knows how to talk to customers to know their exact requirements and deliver what they need.

Apart from work, Kanishk goes to the gym in the morning and spends time with friends and family in the evening. Horse riding is his hobby, which he loves very much.

If Kanishk gets a chance to time travel, he would like to go back to his hostel life in Bangalore and live that part of his life again because that’s where his life changed, and since then he is a completely different person.

Kanishk advises today’s generation that whatever business you want to do, first do complete research and study about it and understand whether you can do it or not before investing any capital, and after taking your parents’ opinion, go ahead with it.
