An entrepreneur in the textile industry, Kamlesh faced many ups and downs in his life but never gave up and worked hard to achieve success. He believes that textiles are a very vast field that requires less capital but more skills.

Kamlesh T. Shah is the Director and Owner at Jayachitra Fashion in Surat.

Kamlesh hails from a village near Sirohi in Rajasthan. He lost his father at the age of three and was then raised by his maternal uncle. After completing his education till high school, he shifted to Surat in 1989 and joined their family business with his elder brother.

Recalling his childhood, Kamlesh says that he thoroughly enjoyed his school and childhood days with his friends. He is still in contact with his childhood friends. He remembers the teachings of his maternal uncle and still cherishes his childhood memories.

Talking about his struggles, Kamlesh says that when his mother was diagnosed with kidney failure, he and his brother faced many difficulties as a large amount of money was spent on her treatment. He was not able to focus on their family business, and in 1993 he lost his mother as well as the business. He faced a very hard time and started working for a textile company. He worked there for three years.

Kamlesh shares that there was a turning point in his life when he got married. After marriage, he started doing grunge fabric work and started earning a handsome amount. In 2003, he opened a shop named ‘Sanskruti’ with the support of his wife. He started this business in partnership with his brothers, and then in 2016, he decided to start his business separately. In 2018, he opened another shop under the name of her daughter, ‘Sanvika’. He always considers his staff members as family members, which, he believes, is the main reason for his success.

Kamlesh’s role model is his maternal uncle, who sacrificed and struggled a lot in his life. He always motivated and inspired Kamlesh to do better in life.

Kamlesh says that he never feels work is a burden and enjoys his work. He believes that it is important to delegate your workload and responsibilities to complete them smoothly. Always dream big and do smart work to fulfil them.

Advising aspirants to his field, Kamlesh says that in the fashion industry, it is very important to update yourself every day as it keeps on changing. One should understand the needs and trends of the market. He says the textile business can be started with very little investment or capital, and it provides various opportunities to grow in the market.

When asked about his mistakes, Kamlesh says that he made many mistakes but always worked hard to rectify them.

In his spare time, Kamlesh likes to travel a lot. His first priority is his family and friends.

If given a time machine to go back in time, Kamlesh would like to relive his childhood days.

Kamlesh advises the youth to read books in order to motivate themselves. It is also very important to choose the right company or friends who always encourage you.
