Kamlesh Darji is a stand-up comedian from Ahmedabad.
Kamlesh completed his engineering degree and started working. Then he realised that he was good at comedy. So he joined Cafe Comedy to complete a professional course in stand-up comedy under the guidance of Amit Kumar. He has done more than 50 shows in the corporate sector.
Recalling his childhood, Kamlesh says that he thoroughly enjoyed it by playing games and doing lots of mischievous things. His father was an English teacher at his school, so he had to behave properly and in a disciplined manner in the school. He always had the ability to establish good and quick connections with others. He completed engineering and gained experience in the field. On his vacations, he used to read a lot of books.
Talking about his journey, Kamlesh says that after completing engineering, he joined the corporate sector to do a job. Then, gradually, he realised that he wanted to become a comedian and started his journey by doing free shows in order to follow his passion. Eventually, he gained fame and enjoyed his journey.
Accepting his mistakes, Kamlesh says that he made the mistake of choosing the wrong field of engineering because he thought it was easy in comparison to science. That is why he failed in the first year of engineering, but he decided to complete it. He also made a mistake in choosing his job and learned that it is important to work according to self-interest. He learned a lot from the mistakes that he made in the profession of stand-up comedy.
Kamlesh’s role models are Amit Kumar, Kapil Sharma, and Johny Lever, as he learned the techniques and body language in stand-up comedy from them.
Kamlesh’s success mantra is to always live or be active.
Advising aspirants to his field, Kamlesh says that in the field of comedy, there are two options available: comedy acting and stand-up comedy. For stand-up comedy, it is important to practise a lot by doing performances at different places and at open mics.
