Kailash Chand Sharma is a flutist and teacher at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.
Kailash hails from Delhi.
Recalling his childhood, Kailash says that he belonged to a middle-class family. He remembers buying a ten-rupee flute when he and his family went for a bath in the Ganga. Thereafter, he developed a passion for playing the flute. He was always average in his studies but excellent in his art.
Kailash shares that he felt a natural inclination towards learning to play the flute from his childhood, and he did not think much before pursuing it as a profession, as he believed that destiny had chosen this field for him and he was just following his destiny.
He started learning to play the flute at the age of six, and was much appreciated by his neighbors and relatives. At the age of twelve, he joined the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and took proper training under the guidance of his guru in classical music. He used to practice the flute while simultaneously pursuing his education. He used to participate in the inter-collegiate competitions and would always win the first prize. He started performing for the programmes on Akashvani. He worked for the next thirty years in Akashvani and retired after giving his full services.
Sharing about his achievements, Kailash says that the biggest accomplishment in his life is that he has lived and enjoyed every moment of his life and the respect and appreciation that he gets from people. Besides that, he is also proud of the fact that he has traveled around the world giving performances.
When asked about his role models, Kailash says that he draws inspiration from every one in his surroundings.
For mental peace, Kailash plays the flute, as it gives him eternal satisfaction.
