Coming from a small town, Khalil’s passion for art led him to travel all alone to a metropolis, where he worked hard to create an identity of his own. Even at this age, he loves doing his job.

K. K. Khalil Khan is a cartoonist, anchor, writer, and director. He has been in this field for the last five decades.

Khalil belongs to a small town in the Solapur district of Maharashtra but currently resides in Pune.

Recalling his childhood, Khalil says that he belonged to an educated family. He was always very fascinated by art. He could draw anything with just his imagination.

Sharing about his journey, Khalil says that he wanted to shift to Pune as it could provide him with better opportunities. When he was living in Lonavala, he used to travel to Pune every day. He used to take inspiration from the crowd in the local train and would draw cartoon characters so that he could utilize them afterwards in the magazine illustration which he did. He met many editors; some rejected him, but some of them gave him the opportunity to work, and gradually he started getting work in the industry. He bought a flat and started his own studio. Today, he also owns a bungalow and enjoys working.

Khalil feels that the satisfaction he gets from his work is incomparable. He also likes reading novels and poetry and painting in his free time.

Sharing about his mistakes, Khalil says that he has been cheated by many in his life but has learned to be strong. He feels that we cannot get everything in our lives, but it is important to accept our situation and move on.

Talking about his achievements, Khalil says that in 1982, while he was working as a cartoonist at Kirloskar Publication, he made a portrait of a famous cricket player and politician and sent it to the Delhi Trade Fair Authority, for which he won the first prize at the all-India level. He has won several awards and trophies for his work.

When asked about his role models, Khalil says that he is inspired by Amitabh Bachchan, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and artists like Javed Akhtar and Gulzaar. He advises everyone to be positive in their lives, and he does the same to keep him inspired to continue his work.

To all the aspirants who want to pursue this field, Khalil advises them to pay attention to sketching first and work on their basics. Always try to learn something new and update themselves with the trend.

Khalil’s life mantra is to keep trying until the end. He believes that the show must go on.
