Work on yourself, and the entire world will salute you.
Jyoti R. Singh is an architect and interior designer from New Delhi. She has a total experience of seven years in the architecture and design fields.
Jyoti did her Bachelors in Architecture from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She is the founder and CEO of JJ Interiors Pvt. Ltd., an architecture and interior design company. Her work and life principles are punctuality, honesty, commitment, and hard work. She feels lucky to have been born in a supportive and inspirational environment and credits her family for her successes.
Jyoti was born and raised in Delhi, and she did her entire schooling and graduation in the city itself. She lived in a joint family system, but for a brief period, she lived with her maternal grandmother. Living with her, she understood the value of time management. Those years gave her a sense of maturity and motivated her to become someone in life.
She completed her schooling in Delhi and graduated in architecture from Jamia in 2014. Just the next day after her graduation, she was lucky enough to grab a job opportunity. She gained good experience working for four years and was praised by her boss. Then in 2018, she started her own company, JJ Interiors Pvt. Ltd., through which she has done many massive and valuable projects.
Jyoti is a strong-headed and positive lady who faced all her challenges quite well and always took them as a learning curve. Whenever she faced difficulties, she motivated herself by thinking, “My best times are coming, and for that, I have to work hard and face this time.”
Whenever she feels depressed or low, she likes to read books, sometimes the same books repeatedly, for a better understanding. Moreover, she loves to meet new people and her friends and talk to them about their experiences and struggles. She especially loves talking to the experienced age group of fifty-plus individuals and learning from their experiences and life stories. Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Ratan Tata, and her father are her three role models. She feels that she gains ample motivation, life lessons, inspiration, and positive vibrations from them.
Jyoti believes in honesty, commitment, hard work, and punctuality as the main mantra for succeeding in architecture and hence advocates the same for aspiring architects. Her company deals in furniture design, building design, and interior design. She loves doing art, and studying at Jamia Milia was her dream. Her dream came true when she got selected in the first attempt itself for architecture.
In her view, education and experience are both valuable. But agreeing with her mother, she feels that “if you complete your education, you are much closer to your dream.”
Jyoti says that the pandemic hit the world badly, but there were some positive changes too. People started sparing time for their loved ones and invested in a lot of “me time”. She says that one can fight anything with a positive mindset.
Jyoti likes sketching, painting, canvas painting, listening to music, and reading books in her free time. Her work is a stress buster for her, and she happily makes sacrifices for her work and career goals.
Furthermore, she suggests strong imagination, a creative mind, punctuality, and hard work as the most crucial principles and skills to be an architect. One of her favorite quotes that inspires her is “Work on yourself, and the entire world will salute you.” She believes that her family has been her biggest supporter and motivator, teaching her to "never give up" and to always follow her passion and career goals.
