A renowned Odissi dancer, Jyoti has a profound love towards Indian classical art forms and sculptures. She is committed to teach Odissi to students through her center.

Veteran Odissi dancer Jyoti Shrivastava is also the owner of the Noida-based Vaishali Kala Kendra, an institution connected to the Indian government's Department of Culture. Jyoti completed an M. Phil in Hindustani vocal music at Delhi University and a PhD in the theoretical aspects of Odissi dance.

Looking back on her early years, Jyoti tells us that her parents raised her and her two sisters in an open atmosphere. Jyoti had an intriguing upbringing, studying a multitude of activities including gymnastics, judo, and karate in addition to learning how to play the sitar. Being a part of Balabhavan gave Jyoti the chance to experiment with different kinds of art and dance forms. She began dancing at the age of four. As she grew older, she gradually became convinced of her preference for the Odissi dance style, and as a result, she committed herself to learning it.

Jyoti gives her family credit for their constant support and understanding throughout her career as an Odissi dancer, which allowed her to follow her passion for Odissi dance.

She also credits her current master, Mr. Durga Charan Ranbir, and her first guru, Mr. Shrinath Rao, for being the inspiration behind her dancing career. She also acknowledges that guruji Ramli Ibrahim taught her the finer details of Odissi dance makeup, costumes, stagecraft, and presentation.

Giving us a glimpse into her accomplishments, Jyoti tells us that founding her own institute at the age of thirty was a significant accomplishment. She considers her first international performance—which she did in Mauritius when she was 22 years old—to be among her most treasured experiences. Her memories of her overseas performances in Armenia and Belgium are heartwarming. It was during these trips that she discovered the ability of art to communicate emotions from the artist to the audience without the use of words.

Looking back at her mistakes, Jyoti thinks she overdid her dancing training when she was younger. Her knees locked up in the middle of her eighth performance of the tour, which happened while she was performing in Kota. One of her followers had a keen sense of awareness and handled the issue with grace and calmness, so the audience there was unable to observe the same. She suggests that her peers modify their moves and practice in accordance with their age.

Jyoti sheds light on her difficulties by stating that certain learners put her patience and ability to handle pressure to the test. She gives her mentors credit for teaching her how to handle tough situations with coolness.

In her spare time, Jyoti enjoys taking vacations to coastal regions like Kerala, Karnataka, or countries in South Asia. In her free time, she also enjoys cooking, reading, and listening to music. She concludes by pointing out that it is crucial to love and that it is equally essential to love everyone as family.
