Jitendra Pal Singh Jolly has been a writer for the past twenty-five years. Initially,  he wrote for the print media and newspapers, and then moved on to writing books. He has been writing books for the past fifteen years. He is known by his pen name, Jolly Uncle, which originated from his surname "Jolly”.

Jolly Uncle shares that once, he forgot to write his name on an article, and when the editor asked who had written it, the delivery boy referred to him as "Jolly Uncle." Since then, he has been recognized by that name.

Regarding his journey as a writer, Jolly Uncle explains that he never aspired to become a writer. However, he suffered from a leg ailment that required him to avoid physical activity. During that time, his wife used to read many magazines, which inspired him to start writing. Since then, he has published over 1500 articles in India and abroad, along with forty-two books. He feels delighted that leading publishers in India, such as Diamond Books, Prabhat Prakashan, Peacock Books, and the Government of India, have published his books. Although he writes in Hindi, his books are available in various languages, including Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, English, Punjabi, Oriya, and many more.

Remembering his childhood, Jolly Uncle acknowledges that his childhood memories aren't particularly great due to the financial struggles his family had to face. He was born in Meerut, but, in 1957, they shifted to Delhi permanently. He attended a government school where they used to sit on the floor and write on slates. He completed his studies till class 11, and the very next day after his final exam, he started working at a private company to support his family.  As his family could not afford the fee of a regular college, he pursued his graduation through correspondence, facing numerous hardships along the way.

Jolly Uncle considers nature as his role model because he incorporates natural phenomena in his motivational books. He feels that nature accomplishes everything silently  and teaches us patience. He is also inspired by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Talking about his achievements, Jolly Uncle mentions clearing the Customs exam and obtaining a Customs House Agent licence. He and his friend cleared the exam together, but they only took one licence instead of two. They started working from Delhi, then opened offices in Mumbai and Punjab.

Due to financial difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to close their office in Mumbai as it became challenging to pay salaries. On an average, for the past thirteen years, Jolly Uncle has been working twelve to thirteen hours a day.  Additionally, his wife battled blood cancer. Although the doctor initially gave her three months, she fought for twenty-one years before passing away. In the meantime, he suffered from DVT disease but never lost hope and continued working.

For those who want to enter this field, he mentions that many young people today chase after money, but writing may not offer substantial financial rewards. However, it does provide respect. Only a few percent of writers become wealthy. He emphasises the importance of reading books first and writing original content that touches the hearts of others.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Jolly Uncle wrote books such as "Love You Zindagi," where he encouraged readers to stop finding faults in themselves, love themselves, and live life to the fullest. He also wrote "Safalta Ki Unchi chhalaang," which emphasises the need to have a high vision. Recently, he wrote a book titled "Ameer Bano," where he conveys the message that one doesn't need to come from a wealthy background to achieve riches.

When questioned about the significance of education compared to experience, Jolly Uncle states that education stands unparalleled in its value. He believes children should receive the best education, considering it crucial during their formative years. He thinks that initially education is important, but as one reaches their 30s or 40s, experience plays a significant role.

Jolly uncle shares a tip for the younger generation, suggesting they spend half an hour with old people. He claims that after a month, their maturity level will noticeably increase, regardless of the older person's level of education. He personally spends time with his granddaughter and teaches her many things. His fourteen year old granddaughter has even set a world record by being able to identify and read all languages. He also encouraged her to learn the art of doing things with a blindfold during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now she can read and identify colours even while blindfolded.

When pondering the hypothetical scenario of being granted a time machine to revisit the past, Jolly Uncle expresses a strong yearning to complete his education in a more comprehensive manner, recognizing the value of knowledge and its potential impact on his life's trajectory. Additionally, he desires to correct mistakes made during his career and prioritise time with his family.

Jolly Uncle imparts valuable advice to the younger generation, urging them to embrace several essential principles. Firstly, he emphasises the importance of having a clear aim, allowing them to set their sights on specific goals. Secondly, he encourages cultivating a positive attitude, as optimism can fuel determination and resilience in the face of challenges. Thirdly, he highlights the significance of awareness, urging them to stay attuned to their surroundings, society, and their own inner selves. Moreover, he stresses the importance of taking action, as dreams and aspirations need proactive steps to manifest into reality. Furthermore, he underscores the need to develop a strong belief system and stop comparing themselves to others. By following these principles, they will be able to discover their true potential.
