Jigyasu Joshi is from Jodhpur and has spent much of his life there. He is the Co-Founder of Carvaa Travelers Pvt. Ltd. which is a Campervan rental and modification start-up.
Apart from this, Jigyasu has worked as a Journalist for a news app for six years. He did his schooling in Jodhpur and then went to Delhi to pursue Journalism.
Jigyasu says that growing up in Jodhpur is the best thing that has happened to him. Growing up in a small city brings in the feeling of community service and a special feeling of connection with people around. He became more considerate and learned the concept of community building.
Jigyasu says that he and his friends are budget travelers and one fine day in 2018 they were discussing their next trip and decided to pool in some money and buy a common car. Soon they converted that thought into buying a Caravan and they went online searching for one. They failed to find many options online and the ones they got were premium priced.
It was then that they decided to do something in this untouched territory and started market research. They talked to people, did online surveys, and decided on tourism routes. They modified two cars and converted them into three and five-seater Caravans and started their business.
Since then, they have been doing good and have survived two lockdowns. Jigyasu says that when people reach out to them and appreciate their efforts, it makes him and the team feel satisfied and motivated.
Jigyasu feels that commitment and passion are needed to reach your goals. He feels that their success is also because of their collective passion and commitment to their common idea.
Talking about struggles, Jigyasu says that getting a Caravan registered was the toughest part. He shares that it took six months to get it registered as there was an acute shortage of knowledge about it and not all RTOs did it. Finally, they came to know that RTOs in Madhya Pradesh are doing Caravan registrations and they got their vehicles registered there.
Talking about the Covid pandemic, Jigyasu says that due to the pandemic people have become more aware and are using proper precautions while traveling. He feels that it also gave time to nature to heal and undo all the negatives that mankind had done to it.
Jigyasu feels that the core strength of ‘Carvaa’ is its diverse team. Each one of them has expertise in a different field and that actually helps them. The diversity makes them successful.
Jigyasu says that his Role Model is a traveler couple named Ronnie and Barty (Rohan and Bharti) who make YouTube videos of their traveling and Jigyasu and his friends are very much inspired by them. The content that they make shows honesty and zeal is what Jigyasu feels.
If given a Time Machine, Jigyasu would like to go back in time and pursue a career in Cooking. He says that he is fascinated by this art and it used to be his niche when he was in the media. He loves cooking and would have done that if given a chance.
For Jigyasu, Experience and Education should go hand-in-hand and the best form of experience one can gain is through educational backing. He says that if we learn and then use it to gain experience through it, we are going to get to real heights in life.
Jigyasu says that a Start-up is a 24x7 job but whenever he gets free time, he likes to listen to music, play guitar and watch some videos online. He feels that we should all give ourselves some ‘me time’ to self-introspect and think about our lives thoroughly.
