Each time I start to dance, I surrender myself wholly to lord Krishna and what happens thereafter only the lord knows.

Jayashree Nair is the founder of Upasana Academy of Fine Arts - a school to train children in Indian Classical dances. She is a professional Classical Dance Teacher.
Jayashree was born and raised in Mumbai. She received most of her formal education in Mumbai itself. At the age of four, she started learning Bharatnatyam and she did her Arangetram- the debut performance of an Indian classical dancer, at the age of nine. Later she also started learning Kathakali along with Bharatnatyam.
Jayashree says that she started her dance academy in 1986. At her academy, she teaches Bharatnatyam, Odissi and Mohini among other Indian Classical dances.
Jayashree acknowledges the roles that her parents, dance teachers, and husband played in making her a better dancer. Her gurus are her biggest inspiration and she thinks that without their blessings she wouldn’t be where she’s today.
Jayashree feels fortunate enough to teach Indian Classical dances to differently abled children under the aegis of Indian Society for Rehabilitation of Handicapped Children.
In her spare time, Jayashree likes to chant holy names of lord Krishna and read spiritual texts like the Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, etc.
When Jayashree recollects the best memories of her life, she is always reminded of the moment when she got First prize in a national level dance competition which was her first ever dance competition and her guru GB Ramini himself took her to the site at which the competition was held.
To the youth of today, her message is to always follow your passion and never chase money.
