As a medical professional, Jaya has helped people get rid of their physical pain. She has now embarked on the journey of UPSC to serve the community at large.

Jaya Trivedi is a physiotherapist who has been working in the medical profession for the last four years. However, recently, she has taken a break from physiotherapy to prepare for UPSC.

Born and brought up in Udaipur, Jaya experienced a very happy childhood. Her father is also in the medical profession. Jaya says she always looked up to her father and admired him for his values of serving people. In her eighth grade, she discovered her true calling and decided to pursue a career that would benefit people in general. Jaya then prepared for the PMT and cleared it in her first attempt. She got admission in a Baroda college, but her family was reluctant to send her away from home.

Thereafter, Jaya studied in Udaipur and graduated from Geetanjali Medical College. She did another course in Jaipur to have a combined degree in medical practice as well as physiotherapy. However, while in her 4th year, Jaya felt unsatisfied with her job. One fine day, she came across an interview of an IAS topper and was quite inspired by it. Jaya realized that by being in the Indian administration, she would be better able to impact the lives of the community at large.

Talking about her profession, Jaya shares that people have a misconception about physiotherapy being just a form of exercise. She adds that the profession goes much beyond that and is made up of different types of therapies. Jaya says that it was a challenge for her to change people’s mindsets and perceptions about the treatment. She urges everyone to have faith in physiotherapy and understand that it is a time-taking process.

With regards to her decision to pursue UPSC, Jaya shares that it is a major shift that she has undertaken. She emphasizes that it is not easy to become a student again after living the life of a practicing medical professional and staying financially independent. Jaya mentions that this journey requires a lot of patience, dedication, and perseverance to stay at the top of your game.

As a message to the youth, Jaya says that she feels that the younger generation have stopped listening to their hearts and are often distracted emotionally and professionally. She suggests they follow their hearts and not be afraid of failing. Jaya adds that there is no success without failure and that it is completely normal to not know everything. She advises the young to talk to people, share, and spend time with themselves and their families.

Besides physiotherapy, Jaya is professionally trained in Indian classical dance, hip hop, jazz, and belly dancing. She loves to explore artistic things. In her free time, Jaya likes to dance and make reels on Instagram. She also enjoys writing poems in Hindi and Urdu. Jaya's works have been published in books and on her Instagram page called "Spill Out Soul."
