An Entrepreneur, Jaya Sharma is a big believer in herself and exudes an indomitable spirit that is greatly inspirational.

Jaya is originally from Bikaner but now lives in Jodhpur. She sells her handicrafts on Amazon and Pepperfry.

Jaya was born and raised in Bikaner and received most of her formal education there itself. After completing her schooling, she did her bachelors from Maharani College, Bikaner. She did her B.Ed. from Sri Ganganagar. Currently, she is pursuing her LLB from Mahila PG College, Jodhpur.

Jaya shares that once she got to know about some handicrafts sellers in her neighborhood who would sell their handicrafts on e-commerce platforms. She too thought of doing the same. Starting small, she created her ID on Amazon and other e-commerce websites. And with the help of one of Amazon’s managers, she learned the nuances of selling handicrafts online. Slowly and gradually, she picked up the business, and later when she started making money out of it, it encouraged her to grow the business.

Jaya says that it’s paramount to have a single-minded focus on your goals without getting distracted by external circumstances to be able to achieve them. Besides, she thinks that whatever you do, you should act according to the circumstances and should always take people around you along. Furthermore, she says that instead of taking a big leap, you should grow step by step to taste success in a real sense.

Jaya always got inspired by some of her relatives, who, beating all the odds in their lives, rose from rags to riches.

Talking about Covid, Jaya says that due to the pandemic her business of exporting handicrafts got affected and therefore she had to halt the exports. However, she started exploring other avenues in handicraft and is planning to launch her new products soon.

Jaya thinks that Education and Experience are both important but they both play different roles in one’s life. She says that education is not mandatory to become big in life but your life experience surely is.

Jaya is of the opinion that one should keep themself busy as an empty mind occupies itself with trivial things in life. She also adds that money is really important in life. Without it nothing can happen.

To aspiring entrepreneurs, Jaya advises them to have good communication skills to be able to convince their customers. Besides, she advises them to always be truthful to all the stakeholders in their business.
